Diablo II: Resurrected – Infernal Edition came to Steam on Feb 11, 2026, securing a "Very Positive" 90% rating with over 2,100 reviews. The 1.0 release introduces the Warlock class and has recently surpassed Diablo IV in concurrent player counts.

Blizzard Entertainment officially brought Diablo II: Resurrected - Infernal Edition to Steam on February 11, 2026, and this a huge change for the franchise as it meshes further with Valve’s ecosystem. This edition is the definitive 1.0 package - it builds the core remaster with the brand-new Reign of the Warlock DLC - the first expansion to introduce a new character class to the Diablo II framework in over two decades.

The launch was met with immediate market traction, with SteamDB reporting a 24-hour peak of 11,749 players. This figure overtakes Diablo IV’s daily peak during its launch week. Most likely, this jump is driven by a mix of nostalgia and quality, as the title currently holds a stable 90% positive rating across roughly 2,113 reviews as of writing.

The core of this update is the Warlock, which effectively rebalances the existing meta. Unlike the Necromancer’s reliance on passive summons, the Warlock uses a "Demon" skill tree focused on binding hellspawn as twisted, controlled allies, alongside an "Eldritch" path that infuses melee weapons with "forbidden" magics. Beyond the class additions, the Infernal Edition gets several modern quality-of-life updates that have been long-standing community requests, especially a customizable Loot Filter and dedicated stash tabs for stackable resources like gems, runes, and crafting materials. These systems cut down on the inventory friction that defined the original 2000 release.

The Infernal Edition looks to be quite a polished iteration, as per reviews. It is currently Steam Deck (curr. $748 on Amazon for the 64 GB variant) Verified - testers report a locked 60 FPS at High settings while drawing roughly 14 W of power. Another great thing for the Steam userbase is the removal of the mandatory Battle.net desktop launcher; while a Battle.net account is still required for back-end login, the game launches directly through Steam. This should improve compatibility with Linux-based handhelds and SteamOS 3.7

However, the launch has not been enitrely spotless, which is pretty normal. One look at community forums like Reddit shows that gamers are frustrated regarding the pricing for existing Resurrected owners, who must purchase the Reign of the Warlock DLC separately for $24.99, nearly the same price as the bundled Infernal Edition for new players. Additionally, the "always-online" DRM is still a point of contention for those wanting a truly offline handheld experience.

Diablo II: Resurrected - Infernal Edition is priced at $39.99 on Steam. You can check it out here.
