Raspberry Pi alternative for professionals: LattePanda Mu Ultra launches with up to 115 TOPS

The LattePanda Mu Ultra has launched as a high-performance compute module. Designed as a compact, thin board without standard connectors, it is intended for seamless integration into finished commercial products. For development purposes, it is also sold as a kit featuring a dedicated carrier board and active cooling.
Under the hood, buyers can choose between the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V and the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V. LattePanda quotes a total AI performance of up to 97 TOPS and 115 TOPS, respectively. However, this metric reflects overall system performance rather than the output of the integrated NPU alone. Fully leveraging this capacity requires the entire SoC to run near peak load, which negatively impacts power consumption and thermal performance.
Measuring 60 x 69.6 mm, the module features a footprint roughly comparable to a credit card. The underlying platform supports up to three displays via HDMI and DisplayPort, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, six USB 2.0 ports, 2.5 GbE networking, and expansion headers including I2C and GPIO for external hardware.
The LattePanda Mu Ultra developer kit—which includes the compute module, carrier board, and active heatsink—is currently available directly from the manufacturer starting at $643 for the Core Ultra 5 model and $733 for the Core Ultra 7 version.
