AMD Radeon RX 5700M vs NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q

AMD Radeon RX 5700M

► remove from comparison

The RX5700M is a mobile high-end graphics card for laptops. It uses the Navi 10 chip (like the desktop RX 5700 and 5700 XT) and therefore also the RDNA architecture. Like the desktop counterparts, the mobile RX 5700M uses dedicated GDDR6 graphics memory connected with a 256-bit bus. The performance is intended to be between the mobile RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 (3DMark 11 GPU score).

The Navi 10 chip uses the new RDNA (Radeon DNA) microarchitecture which is a successor the the GCN instruction set. It features a new processor design, a multi-level cache hierarchy and an improved rendering pipeline with support for GDDR6 memory.

The TDP of the chip is rated at 120 Watt and therefore clearly lower than the desktop RX 5700 (150 Watt) but clearly higher than the lower end RX 5500M (85 Watt). Therefore, the chip is intended for big gaming laptops.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q

► remove from comparison NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q (for laptops, GN20-E3, Max-Q) is the former name for a RTX 3060 Laptop GPU with Max-Q technologies. In previous generations, the Max-Q name was used for low power versions. With the RTX 3000 series, every TGP-version can now use Max-Q technologies and all GPUs are called RTX 3060 Laptop GPU (60 - 115W).
