In early September 2025, Amazon Prime Gaming announced game giveaways worth over $180 set to be available throughout the month. So far, the platform has given away seven free games, which are still available to claim, and now, two more have been unlocked.
Among the two newly added free games is Residual, a 2020 action-adventure title that's set in a galaxy full of strange planets. Developed by OrangePixel, it puts players in the shoes of a lone explorer who crash-lands on an alien planet. This planet is full of secrets and filled with procedurally generated worlds with diverse environmental challenges.
It has elements from classic 2D platformers, and as players explore the challenging terrains, they need to manage their hunger, gather resources, and craft sci-fi tools for survival. There isn't a heavy focus on combat, as the currently free game offers limitless survival possibilities that players can explore without fighting enemies.
Residual currently has a 69% positive rating on Steam, while the pixel art style, some note that the game's design is poorly executed. It's worth $19.99 when there's no sale in place, and the game has proper support for controllers (Manba One curr. $62.99 on Amazon). Prime Gaming is offering a free GOG code for the game.
As for the second free game, it's Fate: The Cursed King, an action RPG dungeon crawler that was released in 2014. It's the final installment of the series, and the gameplay mostly revolves around the procedurally generated dungeon levels. Players get to complete randomized quests as they battle through enemies in each level.
There are spells, weapons, and unique armor that the players can use to get through the levels, and as the game has a traditional RPG progression system, it demands tactical resource management. Fate: The Cursed King is worth $7.99, and it features a 93% positive rating on Steam. However, some players noted that this installment of the series became muddled, losing the simplicity of the first title. Prime Gaming is offering it as a free game with a code that can be redeemed on Legacy Games. You can learn more about the two freebies from the videos below.
