The Asus ROG gaming smartphone has gone up for pre-order in Finland giving us a first look at its pricing. The powerhouse device packs a vapor cooled Snapdragon 845 and 8GB of RAM and will retail for an eye-watering 999 EUR.

Asus ROG is a name very familiar to PC gamers. It should be no surprise that the first gaming smartphone from Asus to bear the ROG brand should be an absolute powerhouse. It should also be no surprise that it won't come cheap -- it has just gone up for pre-order in Finland and will retail for an eye-watering 999 EUR.

Like most major high-end Android devices currently hitting the market, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. However, not only is the CPU mated to a generous 8GB of RAM, but it also features a vapor cooling system that will help to maximize system performance under intense loads expected by serious mobile gamers. The display, too, features a high 90Hz refresh rate and a whopping 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display.

Further customizations tailored for gamers include the incorporation of flashy LED lights into the body of the design as well as ultrasonic ‘air triggers’ along the top edge of the device that will be welcomed by fans of FPS games. There is also a secondary side-located USB-C port that gamers can charge the device while gaming at the same time without the cords getting in the way of the action.

The official word from Asus about when the ROG Phone will actually ship isn’t yet forthcoming, although we expect to see it in customers hands by the middle of next month. It may not be too late to start saving up the cash for bragging rights!
