Smart wristbands like the Whoop 5.0 are becoming increasingly popular because, without a display, these devices do not have the distractions of a smartwatch, while the lack of a screen also makes them more comfortable to wear and results in longer battery life. In this context, Polar has just unveiled one of the most exciting Whoop competitors yet, Loop.
Polar Loop weighs just 29 grams, offers a battery life of eight days and does not have any of its features blocked by a subscription. The wristband records heart rate, activity and sleep data around the clock, including an analysis of how restful the previous night's sleep was. It can also count steps taken and calculate distance and calories burned.
Polar Loop is designed to automatically detect when a workout starts, record your heart rate in real time and determine how strenuous the workout was based on your fitness level. All collected data can be viewed on the corresponding smartphone app. According to Polar, the wristband can withstand temperatures from -20°C to +50°C. It is also water-resistant and can be worn while swimming.
Price and availability
Polar Loop is available for pre-order now via the manufacturer's online shop for $199.99, with shipping expected to begin on September 10. Additional wristbands in different colors are available for $29.99 each.
