PocketBook's new InkPad Color uses the latest 7.8-Inch E-Ink Kaleido color screen
Fans of e-readers who have been dreaming of the ultimate e-reader might have finally seen their dreams come true. PocketBook has launched the first e-reader available in Europe and North America with the latest 7.8-inch E Ink Kaleido display with support for 4096 colors. The new display is particularly well-suited to comics and magazines while retaining the long battery life and eye comfort expected of E Ink displays.
The new Kaleido display on the new PocketBook InkPad Color features an improved color filter over the previous E Ink display found on the earlier non-InkPad model, the PocketBook Color. It offers better contrast and color saturation and a display resolution of 1404 x 1872 pixel. When showing color, it offers a 100 dpi resolution which increases to 300 dpi when displaying in monochrome.
The PocketBook InkPad Color weighs in at 225 grams and is 8 mm thick which still makes it quite compact and portable. It is powered by an unspecified (presumably Arm-based) dual-core SoC and supports 19 different book formats, 4 graphics formats and 6 audio codecs. Onboard storage is capped at 16 GB but it also incorporates an microSD card slot with support for an additional 32 GB of storage which is more than enough for most e-reader users.
The PocketBook InkPad Color e-reader is available now from Amazon.
