Pi Slate: Mobile Raspberry Pi 5-powered device sports keyboard, battery and touchscreen

There are already several handhelds based on the Raspberry Pi 5, and the Pi Slate is now a new option that is also commercially available. The Pi Slate is based on the Raspberry Pi 5 and offered in various configurations, as the handheld can also be ordered without the Raspberry Pi. In that case, it costs $335 plus shipping. The Pi Slate with the Raspberry Pi 5 with 16GB RAM and 128GB storage costs a rather steep $840.
The gadget weighs around 1.27 lb and has a 5-inch touch display with a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. Input is possible via a QWERTZ keyboard with RGB backlight. The battery has a capacity of 10,000mAh. The Raspberry Pi 5 is cooled actively, which should provide suitably effective cooling.
A modular add-on for the back is already included, and it also has a folding stand. Wireless modules can also be mounted this way. The corresponding and necessary pass-throughs for antennas are already available. According to the manufacturer, the device is compatible with various operating systems, although that ultimately depends more on the Raspberry Pi. Naturally, this means the specially adapted Pi OS can be used, as can Batocera for gaming.
