There is strong shadow where there is much light. It is quite justified to be skeptical about the quality of smartphones sold at a street price of around 75 Euros (~$84). Oukitel, however, proves that a manufacturer can build an appealing device even in the very low-budget sector with its U7 Plus model. Although some compromises have to be made when buying the entry-level smartphone, Oukitel's U7 Plus convinces with its good price-performance ratio in the test.

That’s a tough question. The Oukitel U7 Plus is not an amazing smartphone. It’s one of those smartphones that will get stuff done for you, and that’s likely about it. If you are in need of a smartphone that provides you with the ability to check your email, Twitter, Facebook, etc and make calls, then the Oukitel U7 Plus is a great smartphone to pick up. Just don’t expect to see it getting updates often, and don’t expect it to blow you away.

Indeed, Oukitel U15 Pro is a high-competitive smartphone right now, as we mentioned before one of the cheapest 5.5inch Octa core 3GB smartphone on the current market, so we can see the tendency that the smartphones become more and more powerful but at lower price we want. Right now you can enjoy it at $139.99 for three colors. Are you ready to catch one?

Last year’s touchscreen model gave us just over 5 hours of streaming video from BBC iPlayer, but this new model surprised us by shutting itself down after just four hours, 15 minutes. And that’s with a battery that’s swelled from 42 to 52Wh capacity, and no battery-draining touchscreen. What’s going on? Verdict It certainly has its flaws, but a healthy price cut means that the L50 looks better value for money. It’s not particularly fast, but it can handle basic computing work perfectly well, and the slimmer, lighter design of this new model means that the Toshiba L50 is a bit more portable than most of its low-cost rivals. Its larger battery doesn’t help its runtime, and in benchmark tests it’s slower than last year’s model – despite having largely the same components.

Once again, I have mixed feelings when it comes to condensing my thoughts on this handset. On the one hand, it’s a very low-priced smartphone, one that does some things that were only possible on $500 device only a few years ago. On the other, there are some serious compromises when you go for such a handset, and these need to be carefully considered.

The Oukitel U13 is a mixed bag for sure. On one hand, I was left somewhat impressed with its unexpectedly good performance and decent camera, as well as its aluminium unibody. However, many of those earlier positive aspects were dashed by the horrific battery life of this device and the occasional infuriating software failures. A software update could probably fix many of the issues mentioned here, but I’m not holding my breath when it comes to Oukitel’s update rollouts.

Oukitel U16 Max
Oukitel has just announced a brand-new, bargain-priced mid-range smartphone, which is the U16 Max. It was announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and it definitely turned quite a few heads. Largely because it has that impressive 4,000 mAh battery inside, which should keep the U16 Max going for quite some time. It is still a rather mid-range smartphone with a large screen. Under the hood, the Oukitel U16 Max is powered by the MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor and that is paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. There is also a microSD card slot included for those that need a bit more storage on their smartphone. The U16 Max is shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat. When it comes to sensors, there are proximity, light, accelerometer and a fingerprint sensors. There is no NFC included on the U16 Max, but there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth, OTG support, Wi-Fi, GPS and FM Radio. The screen's resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels, which translates to 245 pixels per inch when stretched across the massive, 6-inch diagonal. The advantage here is that users will be able to fit more content onto the screen, after all, that is the major reason behind getting a phone with a larger screen. The display here is not perfect, but it is definitely usable. It is also good to see that there isn’t any light bleed coming from the top, bottom or sides of the display. Seeing a fingerprint sensor coming on more and more of these inexpensive smartphones is definitely nice to see. However, one of the downsides is that these fingerprint sensors are not always as accurate as they should be. Oukitel has incorporated a pretty good fingerprint sensor here, one that works quickly and is mostly accurate. In the camera department, there is a 13 MP sensor for the main snapper, with its individual pixels sized at 1.1 µm, and a lens aperture of f/2.0. On the front, there is a 5 MP selfie camera, with a slightly smaller f/2.2 aperture. Keeping with the stock Android approach here, there’s not much going for Oukitel in the camera app. That is both good and bad. It means that the user isn’t bombarded with a tonne of features that they’ll likely never use. But it also means that there are isn’t a lot of modes, such as manual mode. Oukitel's UI for this phone is a light re-skin of Android 7 Nougat. The icons all have their own, unique look, and a couple of minor features like gesture unlock, fingerprint-assigned apps, and screen record have been added to improve the user experience. Nougat's brand-new split screen is definitely welcome on the large, 6-inch screen. There is also a one-hand mode, which shrinks the screen to make it easier to use with a single thumb. The Oukitel U16 Max is a good phone for those who need a simple smartphone with a large screen. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

Chinese gold standard. The giant new smartphone from the Far East not only tries to impress with size and weight but also with features that are decent for the price of about 130 Euros (~$145). We ask ourselves where the Chinese took shortcuts this time.

If you are in the market for a large screen device, only then you might want to consider the Oukitel U16 Max. There is nothing in it that you won't find in a regular sized smartphone apart from the big screen. From a general point of view, it does some things well and some really poor, and users looking for a large device might have to decide based on their budget and expectations whether to go for this device.

Apple iPhone X for the price-conscious. The Chinese manufacturer Oukitel does not go out of its way to denounce its smartphone’s similarity to Apple’s flagship device (iPhone X), instead the company actually goes so far as to compare both its mid-range U18 offering and Apple’s top-end smartphone, the iPhone X, on its own website. What it has to offer, besides the notch, you can find out in our review.

6.00:
It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

71.79%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
