Reviews for the Origin PC EON17-S 2013

The Origin PC EON17-S offers a solid level of performance that will likely appeal to any mobile gamer. The 17-inch system even in its base form offers a very pleasant gaming system. This is helped by the default SSD used for the primary storage drive. Performance can be improved by customizing the system but for many it probably isn't worth the added cost.

Like I said, I’m a gamer who prefers desktops. But if I had to choose a laptop for my gaming needs, the Origin EON17-S would be very high on my list. This beast of a machine is expensive, but it’s an absolute powerhouse. It all comes down to what you’re looking for. The EON17-S is definitely a desktop replacement that’s not meant to be carried around day to day. But it’s a great choice for college students or people who plan on moving every couple of years, since a laptop is much easier to pack up than a multimonitor desktop setup. It’s also great for LAN parties, but really, who does that anymore?

A totally tricked out Eon17-S is a luxury item gamers will cherish, delivering scintillating performance and some of the fastest frame rates we've ever seen. The laptop also boasts loud, room-filling audio and a blazing SSD. The soft-touch custom panel is easy on the eyes, too. Best of all, Origin offers consumers an insane level of customization.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M: High-end graphics card of the GeForce 700M series based on the Kepler architecture.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4930MX: Mobile quad-core processor based on the Haswell architecture. Fastest CPU in Q2/2013 with an unlocked multiplier.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
3.9 kg:
Only a few laptops are in this weight class because the mobility is rather limited due to the high weight.
Origin PC:
Origin PC is a US-American brand for laptops and desktops, especially for gaming. There are few reviews, the first one appeared in 2014. The ratings are average.
73.33%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
