Reviews for the Origin PC Eon15-X 2020, R9 3900, RTX 2070

This new EON15-X shows that Origin—and the gaming laptop industry—have come a long way in two years, breaking down formerly imposing price and performance barriers. For $2,500, you get pretty much everything you need for a top-notch 15-inch gaming experience. Configuring for AMD’s newest processor and a not-quite stratospheric video card lets you reallocate spare money to memory, which can make a big difference in non-gaming performance, too.

Origin PC takes "desktop replacement" seriously. Like the Alienware Area-51m, and its ilk, the company's Eon15-X and Eon17-X incorporate desktop CPU and GPUs into powerful but power-hungry laptops. Intended to move at most from outlet to outlet rather than from conference room to coffee shop, battery life takes a back seat to performance. The Eon15-X is a reasonably priced midrange model with midrange graphics and one headliner: It incorporates AMD's latest desktop processors, including a 12-core Ryzen 9 3900.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile: High-End laptop graphics card based on the TU106 chip with 2,304 shaders and 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM. Compared to the desktop variant, the GPU is clocked lower. The refresh version in April 2020 bears the same name, but is slightly higher clocked.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.2.7 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
Origin PC:
Origin PC is a US-American brand for laptops and desktops, especially for gaming. There are few reviews, the first one appeared in 2014. The ratings are average.
75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
