Flagship 2.0. After less than six months, OnePlus has introduced the successor to its high-end smartphone OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T. We will find out what the improved version is capable of and if the upgrade is worth it.

It does everything really, really well, and while it may not truly excel in areas such as screen resolution and camera quality, the OnePlus 3T is still astonishingly good value for what is a serious flagship contender.

If the world hadn’t just been rocked by a series of drastic changes that affect tech companies just like the rest of us, our only reaction to the OnePlus 3T would be: why? This phone is just like the OnePlus 3 aside from its higher price and a few little extras that don’t really change how it is to use or where it lies relative to pricier rivals from Samsung and co.

With all the factors above, we think the title of “flagship killer” is quite justified. Performance is superb, the camera is great especially the manual mode (which we really like), the user interface is customizable, great design, same goes to the battery efficiency. There's is little to complain about it, although it needs to work on the overheating issue and a better stabiliser for video recording.

OnePlus uses the copy “Never Settle” and, honestly, you’d be hard pressed to find a phone that’s brand-spankin-new that offers what the OnePlus 3T does. Now that it’s 2017 and the Samsung S8s are here plus the other brands have released their top offerings for the year, however, we can hardly call it a “flagship killer” but it still provides great value at Php 24,990.

Overall the OnePlus 3T is an excellent handset for the price, it is powerful, hardly heats up and performance is really smooth be it gaming / heavy and/or for general usage. The 3400 mAh battery comes with Dash Charge support, on a full charge you can expect 1 to 2 days of mixed battery life – depending on your usage.

Well, the OnePlus 3T has always been a great value for money proposition considering the high end specs that the phone has to offer. The addition of the black variant is a good move and should have been done earlier. That brings us to one last question- Has it made the best even better? In a word- Yes!

The OnePlus 3T will be unfairly compared, for now at least, to the phone that came before it. So let’s ignore it. On its own, the OnePlus 3T is everything a modern smartphone should be; slim, fast, and responsive, with above average battery life and cameras that produce stunning images. And then there’s the price. OnePlus may not like being known for it, but £399 remains an absolutely amazing price point for the phone on offer.

As for the specs, it's the same flagship killer last year and is easily one of the best phones you can buy, especially at a great price. OnePlus 3T is a 5.5-inch AMOLED Full HD screen and a fast fingerprint scanner. Its body is hewn from a single block of Aluminium, which is curved slightly on the back to give it an ergonomic feel. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and under the hood is a decent 3,300mAh battery which easily lasts all day and charges exceptionally fast thanks to OnePlus' Dash Charge.

So, as it stands, the OnePlus 3T is still a great buy. On paper, the camera module is not quite on the same level as the powerful processing components but still looks very promising. A 1/2.8" 16MP sensor is combined with an F2.0 aperture, phase detection and optical image stabilization. DNG Raw support, 4K video and manual control over shutter speed are all on board as well and selfie-shooters will be interested in the front camera that offers a whopping 16MP resolution.

The stark fact is that the OnePlus 3T is a device that is superior to the OnePlus 3, although this superiority is covertly rather than overtly evident. The debate on whether the OnePlus 3 needed to be replaced will go on for a while. We will content ourselves by saying that it has been subtly surpassed rather than overwhelmed by its rather early successor. Those who have purchased a OnePlus 3 might not find a compelling reason to upgrade to it (barring for the battery), but those in the market for a flagship-level device at an affordable price will be hard-pressed to find a better one than this.

Just months after the OnePlus 3 came out, it’s being replaced with an updated model that offers better performance. For starters, the OnePlus 3T is one of the fastest phones on the market, thanks to its zippy new Snapdragon 821 processor. And now, post-update, it’s also one of the longest-lasting. Additionally, the phone’s new 16-megapixel front camera takes great portraits in low light. You still won’t find a microSD slot for expandable storage, and the lower price here means you’ll have to settle for a full HD display instead of a quad HD panel. Still, for $440 the OnePlus 3T delivers excellent value.

Should you get the OnePlus 3T instead of its similarly priced midrange smartphones? Yes. But when compared to flagships, we can’t help but think long term. Software-wise, there’s nothing to worry about as the dev community of OnePlus is very much alive and supportive but when it comes to hardware, it’ll be tough since the phone is not officially available in the country. The device is more suited for those who needs a phone to support their hunger for power and speed within the Android realm, but for casual users, it could be mixed-bag.

The OnePlus 3T is almost as easy to recommend as its predecessor, but the price increase does push it past the psychological $400 barrier in the US (the UK price of £399 just sneaks under the line). Since the first model was launched the OnePlus offering to consumers has always been about delivering one of the most powerfully priced handsets at a competitive price. The OnePlus 3T certainly offers the former, but the incremental upgrades and slowly rising price from the first handset to this season's 3T is noticeable. The OnePlus 3T is an impressive Android handset (even more so when Android Nougat runs on the handset) and the hardware delivers on all the promises made.

Ultimately, I still believe that the OnePlus 3T is a very good phone for the price, and it is a better phone than the OnePlus 3. However, if you were to offer me the OnePlus 3 and 3T at their original prices, I think I would just opt to get the OnePlus 3. I would definitely miss the longer battery life, but for me personally, the other changes don't add up to enough to justify the increase in price.

OnePlus 3T is a great choice if you want to try out the new Snapdragon 821 processor without having to shell out Google Pixel XL-sized big bucks.

The OnePlus 3T remains the best Android phone you can buy in its price category with fantastic performance, great build quality and an improved battery life, but now that it’s edged towards £400 and beyond, it’s not quite as big a bargain as its predecessor.

Like its predecessor, the OnePlus 3T is a brilliant smartphone, regardless of the bump in price. Its build quality and design is up there with the best of them, it has a vibrant and punchy display and a battery that can last practically all day on a 30 minute charge. There's very little to criticise.

On the other hand, those who have been waiting to see what Google had to offer with their smartphones and were holding off on buying the OnePlus 3 will certainly be elated. Given the upgrades, the $40 and $80 difference in price from the OnePlus 3 is completely understandable, and still undercuts a lot of other flagships. What you get for the money does make the OnePlus 3T one of the best deals you can get for an Android flagship, and is a smart move by the company.

So, why create a tweaked version of a phone after a mere five months? OnePlus has its own story on this, which goes something like: the company felt it could offer a better version of its phone with more advanced hardware, but its business model doesn't support selling multiple hardware variants of a device at once. Thus, the OnePlus 3 is out and the OnePlus 3T is in.

For my money, it’s one of the best smartphones money can buy, made even better because of its improved specs. If you want to spend a few hundred dollars more on a Google Pixel or iPhone 7, by all means, you’ll be getting good phones. Or, you can get the 3T for just $439.

There are certainly reasons to choose a Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S7, or iPhone 7 instead of a OnePlus 3T (and if you use Verizon or Sprint, OnePlus isn’t even an option), but the gap is narrower than ever. If OnePlus is able to keep up this pace of progress, and is able to maintain its excellent value proposition, a year from now, I wonder if there will be any reason to spend $700 or more on a new smartphone.

Even with the modest price bump, the OnePlus 3T is an amazing value. It has great hardware, slick and responsive software, amazing battery life, strong rear camera and every internal spec you could want. Even its few weaknesses, like slightly low screen brightness, lack of waterproofing and questionable software update frequency, are minimal bad marks on what is otherwise an exceptional phone. At $439, you can't find a better value than the OnePlus 3T.

As someone who is upgrading from a OnePlus 2, the OnePlus 3T is like leaping from a cave into a valley of neon lightbulbs — the experience really is like night and day. My OnePlus 2 had become sluggish, with the screen often unresponsive to the touch, and after playing around with the OnePlus 3T, those issues are really noticeable. I simply could not go back to using the OnePlus 2 after experiencing the 3T.

The previous OnePlus 3 was already the best phone for the money, and while the 3T's $439 starting price has upped the ante a bit, improved performance and an extra 2 hours of battery life are worth the extra $40. Really, it would probably be worth it for the battery life alone, because I'm willing to bet if you asked people if they would pay two Jacksons to get an extra 2 hours of battery life over their current handset, most would take that deal in a heartbeat.

The OnePlus 3T has an excellent all-round main camera, but it doesn’t have any of the next-generation tech you’ll see in a few phones that cost £200 more. We’re talking primarily about the dual-camera antics of the Huawei Mate 9 and iPhone 7 Plus, which let you zoom in without the usual instant degradation in image quality.

The OnePlus 3T in both the 64 GB and 128 GB (gunmetal version only) storage options will be available on OnePlus.net in the United States on November 22 and in Europe on November 28. The 3T starts at $439. The 64GB soft gold edition will become available shortly after launch of the gunmetal gray model, OnePlus says.

The OnePlus 3T is available in two colours: Soft Gold – the very same colour available for the OnePlus 3 – and a new “Gunmetal” colour, which seems to have a darker shade of grey over the Graphite OnePlus 3. As for the OnePlus 3T’s retail prices, the 64GB model goes for $439 (about RM1,905), while the 128GB variant is listed at $479 (approximately RM2,080). As usual, Malaysian availability of the OnePlus 3T still remains to be seen.
Positive: Powerful hardware; long battery life; good cameras; excellent display. Negative: Relatively high price; no memory card slot.

Model: The OnePlus 3T is an updated version of the OnePlus 3, which was launched around 6 months ago. The main difference is the extra battery life and the ability to capture better selfies. The 3T looks almost identical to the original, with a minimalist all-metal build that comes in either in Gunmetal or Soft Gold color. The 3T is carved out of a single slab of premium space-grade aluminium alloy and is only 7.3 mm thin. It feels light with a nice balance of soft curves and sharp lines. It is not a very tall or wide device, and that allows for a comfortable one-handed experience. The 3T has a 5.5-inch optic AMOLED display with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1090 pixels) and a pixel density of 401 ppi. It is capable of producing vivid and lifelike colors, with deep blacks and bright whites, all at a fraction of the power consumption. The screen is covered by a protective panel of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Sitting just below the display is the fingerprint sensor, which doubles as the Home button. Crafted from premium ceramic, the fingerprint sensor is acutely responsive, unlocking the device in just 0.2 seconds. The fingerprint sensor also actively learns and progressively improves, so the scans get even more precise over time.
The rear camera of the OnePlus 3T has not changed; it’s still a 16 MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture, optical image stabilization and a phase detection autofocus. The rear camera is housed in stainless steel and shielded by a layer of sapphire glass for extra protection against drops and scratches. The OnePlus team has, however, equipped the 3T with a new 16 MP front camera, quite a jump from the previous 8 MP front camera in the previous model. The new advanced front-facing camera also comes with a f/2.0 aperture, bringing with it improved low-light performance. The new EIS 2.0 technology helps to cancels out unwanted movements when recording 4K videos on the device. The 3T’s battery life also received an upgrade in the form of a new 3400 mAh battery, which sees a 13% increase in battery capacity over the OnePlus 3, all the while maintaining the same weight and size. Powered by the Dash Charge power adapter, it is said to have a day’s power in just half an hour. The charging speeds remain consistent even while gaming, live-streaming, navigating with GPS or other demanding activities. One of the strong suits of the Dash Charge is its ability to keep temperatures low while carrying more current than other fast charging solutions. By shifting the power management system and heat dispersion elements to the Dash Charge power adapter, very little heat ever reaches the 3T.
The 3T runs on a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35 GHz, making it one of the fastest phones on the market. It handles graphic-intensive gaming well. Thanks to its 6 GB of RAM, the 3T makes for swift multitasking. It has an internal storage of 64 GB, but only the Gunmetal version has the 128 GB storage option. Like the OnePlus One, the OnePlus 3T breaks the benchmarks set by premium phones, all at a fraction of the price. It will be a good phone for users who seek for functions over brand.
