Olight's MCC magnetic charging cables were previously only available with USB-A. The company has now introduced a USB-C version, even though most of its newer flashlights can be charged directly via USB-C. Still, Olight remains committed to MCC.

Olight unveiled more than just new flashlights during its O Fan Day, unexpectedly introducing a new charging cable as well. The Magnetic Charging Cable has now reached its fourth generation as the MCC4 and includes several upgrades.

The most important change is the switch to USB-C. All previous MCC cables used USB-A, a port that is gradually disappearing from modern power adapters and power banks. Many models already omit USB-A entirely, making Olight's otherwise convenient but proprietary MCC cables more difficult to use. The MCC4 addresses this issue by supporting USB-C. According to Olight, the cable's electrical design has also been improved, allowing it to charge flashlights 75 percent faster than the 1A MCC cable.

However, some details remain unclear. The new cable was presented alongside the new ArkTac flashlights. Previous MCC versions have generally been cross-compatible, although Olight does not always recommend using them interchangeably. In any case, the new ArkTac and MCC4 cable confirm that Olight has no plans to discontinue its magnetic charging connector and will continue using it on its flashlights.

However, new docking solutions are still needed. Olight has yet to replace its discontinued Omino multi-charger, while the relatively recent Ostation 2 Pro AA/AAA battery charger also uses older MCC connectors. Newer flashlights can generally still be charged with these older connectors. It is not yet known whether the MCC4 cable will also be sold separately. It will likely launch before the end of the year.
