OkPad dual-screen laptop combines IPS panel with E Ink touchscreen, stylus and Bluetooth keyboard
The brand new OkPad combines two relatively small displays into a compact dual-screen laptop, including a 7.8-inch E Ink display with a resolution of 1,872 x 1,404. Although this panel can only display grayscale, it hardly consumes any power and remains perfectly legible in direct sunlight.
Notes can also be recorded on the display using the stylus supplied, which recognizes 4,096 pressure levels and the opposite end of the stylus acts as an eraser. On the other side of the hinge is another touchscreen, namely an 8.9-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1,280 x 800. Thanks to the 360-degree hinge, the OkPad can be used as a tablet or laptop, and the manufacturer also offers a foldable keyboard and trackpad for this purpose.
When folded, the OkPad is around 1.4 cm thick. The device uses Android 10, and its performance also makes the OkPad more suitable for undemanding office and web tasks, as the manufacturer installs an unspecified Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM processor with clock speeds of up to 1.8 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of flash storage and a 7,000 mAh battery, which is charged via USB-C.
Price and availability
The OkPad is currently being funded on Kickstarter, where the device can be pre-ordered in the "Super Early Bird" offer for $199. A stylus and charger are included, while a foldable Bluetooth keyboard is available separately for $49. All prices exclude shipping and import fees. Delivery is expected to start as early as August 2024.
