Compared to the K1, the upcoming OPPO K3 gets some upgrades, but some downgrades, as well. The upgrades include a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with no notch, a pop-up selfie cam, bigger 3,700 mAh battery, and up to 8 GB of RAM plus 128 GB storage, while the downgrades consist of a slightly slower Snapdragon 710 SoC and a 16 MP sensor for the selfie cam.

The specs for the successor of the OPPO K1 were recently leaked on the Chinese Weibo forums and its design appears to be very similar to the freshly launched OPPO Reno models. OPPO decided to skip the K2 moniker, as the successor is supposed to get a K3 identifier.

Based on the leaked specs, the K3 appears to be a premium mid-range model that would initially be available only for the Chinese markets. Compared to the original K1 model that is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, the K3 gets a slightly slower Snapdragon 710 chip, but the maximum amount of RAM is raised from 6 GB to 8 GB. The screen is a bit larger, since the K3 would get a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with 2,340 x 1,080 resolution versus the 6.4-inch found on the K1. While the in-display fingerprint reader was kept on the K3, the teardrop notch was eliminated in favor of the pop-up selfie cam that looks very similar to the one used on the OPPO Reno models.

Speaking of the selfie cam, the one on the K3 got a downgrade from 25 MP to 16 MP, yet the rear cam setup is unchanged, still featuring a 16 MP main sensor with a 2 MP depth sensor. In the battery department, we could be seeing a 3,700 mAh model along with Flash Charge technology through a 20 W USB-C charger.

No info on any launch date for now, but the K3 may retain the original K1 price tag of around US$360.
