Nurabuds: Subscription-only earbuds launch for US$5 per month
Nura has released a new audio product, the Nurabuds. Nura, known for the Nuraphone headphones, has adopted a subscription model for the Nurabuds, which guarantees a device refresh every 24 months. Nura stresses that its Nuranow subscription will not lock people into a long-term contract, and that it provides a 'worry-free warranty'.
Currently, Nuranow is only available in Australia, the US and the UK. Nura has not shared expansion plans yet, either. As it stands, Nuranow costs US$5 per month plus a US$19 initial fee. Hence, the Nurabuds will cost US$139 if you keep them for two years.
Nura has not published a complete specification sheet, so we do not know details like driver-size, for example. However, Nura states that the Nurabuds offers up to 4 hours of continuous listening, active noise cancellation, and a hear through mode. Additionally, the earbuds have customisable touch buttons, IPX4 certification and Bluetooth 5.0 support.
The earbuds utilise Qualcomm's aptX Bluetooth codec too, but not aptX HD or aptX Adaptive. Nura claims that the earbuds will also support in-house and personalised audio profiles. Strangely, these personal audio profiles can only be created on other Nura products.
