The nubia Neo 5 5G focuses on delivering a solid budget gaming experience with useful features like shoulder triggers, a large 6050mAh battery, and smooth mid-level performance for popular titles, while handling daily tasks without major issues. The display is fluid and bright enough for most use, though it lacks AMOLED-level contrast, and the speakers are clear but light on bass. Cameras are serviceable for casual social media shots. Overall, it’s a capable entry-level gaming phone that balances performance, features, and price well.

As we wrap up this review, let’s address the delicate matter at hand — the price of the phone. Now I know readers must be curious to have made it this far, as I did note that this was a thrifty pickup. But, how budget-friendly are we talking here? At the time this article was written, you can find the ZTE Nubia Neo 5G on sale for PHP 9,599 at ZTE’s official store in Shopee 66. At full price, this should be around PHP 11,999. For how much it costs versus how good it performs is a good deal, by the way. It’s a solid gaming phone, draped with what I think is a too over-the-top thematic touches. But you know, style is subjective. What matters here is how it is upon using it, right? Its competition with other gaming phones is surely offering better overall value, but at a way higher cost. Like, way higher.

Outside of the phone’s gaming features, the nubia Neo 5G is pretty much well specced for its price. Bloatware is minimal and the phone’s MyOS UI overlay is simple enough to use for longtime Android users. The main 50MP camera performs decently in daytime use. Under lowlight conditions, it’s rather average and outclassed by other phones. The 6000mAh battery holds up pretty well and with power saving turned on, it lasts more than a day for non-gaming use. As a pure media consumption device, the nubia Neo 5G hits all the marks, making a use-case outside of gaming.

At Php 9,999, the Nubia Neo 3 5G is a solid deal for budget gamers. The mecha-eye design, 120Hz display, and monstrous battery make it a compelling pick for Pinoy gamers who want bang-for-buck performance. The Unisoc T8300 chipset and AI Game Space 3.0 deliver a surprisingly smooth experience for casual to mid-tier gaming, and those shoulder triggers are a game-changer for its intended audience. But the glossy back, average cameras, and LCD display remind you this isn’t a flagship.

Overall, the Neo 3 5G lives up to its promise as an affordable gaming phone, retailing at just P9,999. It caters well to younger audiences seeking extended gaming capabilities alongside basic smartphone functions. However, photography and media content creation are not its strong points, and users should mindful with the phone, due to its IP54 dust and water resistance rating.

We have finally arrived to the last part of this comparison where we answer the question, which one should you get? With all the pointers we've discussed so far, the Infinix GT 30 crushed the competition with its better specs and performance across the board. It boasts a better chipset, a sharper screen, and a more visually pleasing UI. What seals the deal is the price. The Infinix GT 30 sets you back only PHP 11,999 (8 GB +128GB) which is a thousand pesos less from that of the nubia Neo 3 GT Limited Edition, priced at PHP 12,999 (12 GB + 256 GB). The Neo 3 GT is not that bad per se. On its own, it's a decent pick, especially that the Limited Edition comes with an included game pad, along with other freebies. It's just that, it came in short in a lot of ways. I can only recommend this phone if its price drops down to at least under Php 10,000. But that's just me. Ultimately, the choice is always yours.

At an introductory price of PHP 12,999, the nubia Neo 3 GT 5G Limited Edition makes it clear what it’s all about. It’s a smartphone built with gaming as the top priority, while everything else comes second. The big AMOLED screen is smooth and responsive, the shoulder triggers give you extra control, and the LED lights make it stand out in a way that feels unique. The chip handles daily use and most popular games just fine, although heavier titles do push it to its limits. Although, MyOS software can feel a bit cluttered unless you spend some time disabling the extra apps.Still, the battery life more than makes up for those shortcomings. Whether it is long video playback, extended gaming sessions, or all-day use, the 6000mAh battery holds up well, and the 80W charging makes it easy to keep going.

The Nubia Neo 3 GT is a well-rounded smartphone for mobile gaming – and general use – offered at a fairly accessible price. It stands out with its bold gaming-oriented design and interface, a high-quality 120 Hz OLED display, solid performance enhanced by AI features, large battery capacity with 80W fast charging, and a range of gaming-focused features, from touch-sensitive triggers and liquid cooling to a dedicated Game Space. The cameras are generally capable but less suited for low-light photography. The software could be cleaner, and stereo sound more pronounced. Still, given the price, these minor drawbacks don’t overshadow the phone’s overall strengths.

Considering the design and positioning, I see the main target audience as schoolchildren who are fond of mobile games. For this category, the ZTE nubia Neo 3 GT is quite suitable: the performance is enough for the most popular games, there are additional touch triggers, a large AMOLED screen, long battery life, fast charging, loud sound, pleasant vibration feedback and an aggressive design with backlight. However, the cost of a smartphone with such characteristics should be somewhat lower.

The nubia Neo 5 GT sets out to offer a powerful gaming experience without breaking your bank. And for the most part, it performs well enough for this purpose. Of course, it can’t really run games at the highest settings, but its practical features make up for the shortcomings. The flat form makes the phone comfortable to use, while the built-in fan helps it maintain a steady performance. Overall, the handset is a good pick for those looking to dip their toes into mobile gaming. That said, the Neo 5 GT is no generalist, so it does make some concessions in certain aspects like the camera.

Overall, the nubia Neo 5 GT delivers gaming performance that exceeds expectations for its price segment. The built-in cooling fan helps maintain consistent performance, even in demanding titles. For best results, using Fast Cooling is recommended. The main downside is the noticeable fan noise, although this can be less distracting when using headphones or higher volume levels.

The nubia Neo 5 GT proves itself a gaming smartphone that delivers on its promise. With a responsive display, robust chipset, effective cooling system, and distinctive design, it excels in providing a top-notch gaming experience. Beyond gaming, its AI tools make it a capable daily driver. Priced at P19,999 for the top configuration, it offers strong value for money, making it an attractive option for users looking to upgrade their mobile gaming experience. The nubia Neo 5 GT is a solid choice for gamers seeking power without a hefty price tag. While it has some drawbacks, its overall performance and design make it a worthy contender in the current market.

Taking everything into account, the nubia Neo 5 GT feels like a more deliberate and focused take on what a midrange gaming phone should be. Instead of trying to chase flagship-level specs, nubia clearly prioritized the fundamentals; sustained performance, effective thermal management, a responsive display, and battery endurance. And for the most part, those decisions pay off. The experience feels consistent, especially in longer gaming sessions where many devices in this segment tend to fall short. The cameras are serviceable at best, the software comes with some bloatware and occasional ads, and there are a few minor design quirks. But given the phone’s priorities, these feel more like trade-offs than outright dealbreakers. If you’re someone who prioritizes gaming performance over everything else, this is one of the more compelling options in its price range.

Moving on to our verdict, I honestly have mixed feelings about this. Sure, it’s got that typical nubia DNA that makes for a good gaming smartphone. Features like the shoulder triggers, “Falcon-eye” lighting design, and the dedicated gaming chipset make the Neo 5 Pro a fairly viable option for gaming. However, when you take the price into consideration, that’s when it becomes a bit of a letdown.

At a price of PHP14,999, the nubia Neo 5 Pro is a decent phone for casual gaming. Titles like Call of Duty: Mobile and Mobile Legends run well on this device. However, if you are planning to play heavier and more demanding games, expect weaker performance. Still, for a budget gaming phone, it did not disappoint.

72.15%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
