Being a significant upgrade to the Nokia 2.1, the Nokia 2.2 continues to maintain the line’s reputation of providing clean, stock and optimized Android to budget phones. The shift to a removable battery is something we did not expect, and the cameras have improved considerably, despite the unusual video format. While face unlock felt more like a gimmick than a real feature, the Nokia 2.2 is an ideal device for those who need a backup or weekend phone.

Overall, these aren’t the first phones I’d recommend to most people, but if you’re looking for a device that gets the job done at a really low price, these two devices are a great option. I found myself able to do everything with both smartphones that I can with a flagship device like the Pixel 3 or the OnePlus 7 Pro, just a bit slower. That means I was streaming music, browsing social media or the web, watching YouTube and answering emails with ease. The 4.2 handles all of these tasks like a champion, while the 2.2 takes more time to do them. Still, both phones are entirely passable. If you’re a heavy phone user, maybe the 4.2 is more your speed. Once again, if you’re looking for a low-cost handset that can do everything a flagship can, these are likely your best bet. Although, don’t expect to be taking amazing pictures.

Overall, I can see the Nokia 2.2 being for those who don’t necessarily worry about high or mid range specifications, features and inclusions and you could do a little worse but also a little better if you shop around.

The Nokia 2.2 is yet another offering in the sub-Rs. 8,000 segment. With its Rs. 7,999 price tag, the 3GB RAM variant of the Nokia 2.2 faces competition not only from new smartphones that are aggressively priced, but also from older models that have dropped in price or are being discounted.

The Nokia 2.2 is the most basic Nokia phone you can find right now that is on the Android One program. And that's really the biggest draw about the device. It is one of the most affordable Android One phones in the market, which means not only do you get the latest Android Pie software, but you get it with a stock interface and the satisfaction in knowing that it will receive regular security updates and Android Q soon.

The Nokia 2.2 entered the budget smartphone market with a price tag of Rs 7,999 (for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant) at a time when its more sophisticated brother, the Nokia 4.2 received an updated price of Rs 10,490 (for the similar 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant). While you might save a couple of thousand rupees with the Nokia 2.2, you’ll miss out on a lot in terms of features and quality. Performance too takes a hit with the Nokia 2.2’s weak MediaTek Helio A22 chipset.

To conclude, Nokia 2.2 gives a decent look and the display looks interesting in nature. The hardware is quite standard for its price range and the cameras are yet to be tested in different lighting conditions. The major take away here is the Android One branding, meaning that users will get some regular updates. That said, the phone will face stiff competition from the likes of Realme C2, Xiaomi Redmi 7, Infinix S4 and more, which offers some good hardware and design language.

Model: With Nokia’s presence in the budget phone category, equivalent Chinese phones are now having a tough fight. The Nokia 2.2 is the cheapest in its series of smartphones. Realistically, the Nokia 2.2 is a delightful welcome to this range as the 2.1 didn’t do much justice for the range and for Nokia themselves. The 2.1 was stuck with the weakest Qualcomm processor but that wasn’t even its weakest point. The phone had 1 GB RAM in 2018, which meant that it could barely handle two apps at a time. This time things have changed. The Nokia 2.2 comes with two options for RAM and memory, a 32 GB with 3 GB of RAM version or a lower 16 GB with 2 GB of RAM version. The built-in memory can be expanded by inserting a micro SD card. The Nokia 2.2 now relies on a Mediatek processor which is slightly more powerful than the lowest Qualcomm processor. As for the display, the Nokia 2.2 comes with a 5.71-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,520 pixels giving it a density of 295 pixels per inch. Frankly, the screen is wonderful for what it costs. It also extends to the top to give it some sort of a bezel less look. There is a tiny tear drop notch on the top to place the front facing camera. Coming to the camera, this phone has a single 13 MP camera on the rear. It is coupled with a LED flash and can capture photos in HDR mode. The camera is more of a necessity and not really a feature. It captures decent photos for sharing with friends on social media. The front facing camera is a 5 MP unit which is good for video calls but not really for selfies.
Despite its all plastic construction, the Nokia 22 feels solid. This is not a surprise considering Nokia’s track record. Apart from that thick chin with the Nokia branding which feels quite out of place, the phone feels like a pretty good compact device. It rests in the hands well and can be used with one hand which is not a common thing these days. The phone is shipped in two colors, Steel and Tungsten Black. It comes with what is probably the best version of Android, Android One. This is essentially a clean and light version of Android and it makes phones fast and snappy. Inside there is a 3,000 mAh battery, which is big enough for the phone's screen resolution and processor. Unfortunately, the charging port is a micro USB port, which means charging and transferring data is slower. The Nokia 2.2 is an important addition to their lineup and exactly what the world needs. It gives people access to a smartphone at an extremely affordable price but doesn’t compromise too much on its functionality.

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

The company is known for its telecommunications equipment and cell phones. Nokia was one of the leading manufacturers of cell phones in the 1990s and has expanded its business into networking and technology solutions in recent years.
In 2011, Nokia partnered with Microsoft on Windows-based cell phones and sold the entire cell phone division to Microsoft in 2014, which limited the Nokia brand name to basic cell phones. In 2016, Finnish electronics manufacturer HMD Global entered into a licensing agreement with Nokia, bought the remaining Nokia name rights from Microsoft Mobile, and since 2017 has exclusively offered Nokia cell phones worldwide, which are based on Android, among other things, and are produced by Foxconn.
