With the UTL19, Nitecore combines a flat EDC flashlight with a practical tool. The UTL19 features a floodlight, a spotlight, a UV light, and a retractable cutter blade as a utility knife. It can also glow in the dark.

Nitecore has released the UTL19, which the company classifies as a utility tool and a flashlight. Like most flashlights in Nitecore's EDC series, the UTL19 comes in a flat form factor with an integrated battery. But on the side, the flashlight sports a cutter with a retractable and replaceable blade, an interesting combination of a utility knife and a flashlight.

The UTL19's utility blade needs to be installed before it can be used. Nitecore does not install the blade before shipping it.

The UTL19 also comes with two light sources and a green laser. The latter will be a Class 3R laser in the US and Class 1 in other markets. The main light can be used as a floodlight, a spotlight, and a mixed light. Within the EDC series, this has usually been achieved with different LEDs in the light core. According to promotional images, the core consists of five LEDs.

With the integrated battery, Nitecore's UTL19 offers a minimum runtime of 1:15 hours at 1,800 lumens in floodlight mode with a beam distance of 180 meters. In spotlight mode, the flashlight can be used for 1:45 hours at 800 lumens and a beam distance of 220 meters. In medium mode, which roughly halves the range of the floodlight and spotlight modes with 400 and 330 lumens, respectively, the flashlight can be used for two hours. A low mode (80 lumens) lasts 90 hours.

The floodlight can also be used in an ultra-low mode with just one lumen, which lasts 270 hours. This comes with a very limited range of four meters.

The UTL19 also features a UV light with three intensity levels. According to Nitecore, the UV light is more powerful than those found in most consumer flashlights. It is classified as a Risk Group 1 UV light. Battery runtimes are between 3 and 15 hours. The flashlight is rechargeable via USB Type-C.

An interesting addition is the glow indicator to find the flashlight in the dark. According to Nitecore, a "built-in ultra-low-power UV light source excites fluorescent material" to make it glow in the dark. Nitecore has used  this concept in the past, for example with the TIKI GITD keychain light.

The UTL19 can be carried using an attachable lanyard or a deep pocket clip.

Nitecore's UTL19 costs 129.95 euros and should be available "very soon" in the US and Europe, according to Nitecore.
