Nintendo has expanded its app portfolio with the Nintendo Store app, now available in the iPhone App Store and the Google Play Store. The app primarily offers more convenient access to the My Nintendo Store, where users can order consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2, accessories and games on cartridges.
The My Nintendo Store offers free bonuses with some products, such as a keychain with the purchase of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Customers also collect points with every purchase, which can be redeemed for rewards such as refrigerator magnets, posters or notepads. The Nintendo Store app can optionally send push notifications when an item is discounted or when new products are released.
The Nintendo Store app also allows users to register for select Nintendo events. What makes the app particularly exciting is that for the first time it can show how much time has been spent playing various Nintendo games, not only on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but also on titles played on the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo Wii U, provided that the consoles were used with the same Nintendo account.
However, Nintendo stopped recording data for the Wii U and 3DS in February 2020, so the app can only display historical data collected before that date. The app even breaks down playtime, showing how long users played on each day.
