Nexus 6P and 5X get faster with this month's update

Google LG Nexus 5X gets Android Marshmallow with better performance overall

This month's security update brings multiple performance improvements to both Nexus handsets, as well as many bug fixes.

Although both the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are well built and have more than decent specs, these two handsets were often criticized for their performance, especially the 5X. Fortunately, this month's Android update seems to take care of these alleged issues.

The list of changes that affect both handsets once the update completes includes the following:

  • DND next alarm issue fix
  • Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity improvements
  • general performance problems fix
  • carrier-specific bug fixes

In addition to the above, various minor issues have been fixed as well. Google made the update images available for download already, namely MHC19J and MMB29V for Nexus 5X, as well as MHC19I for Nexus 6P.

Users of these two Nexus handsets can also get the Android N preview images installed, but they are early builds not aimed at consumers. However, the major new features seem to work well enough to be enjoyed already, especially multi-window support.
