Perfect for smart home enthusiasts: A new smart touchscreen not only supports controlling smart devices but can also connect them directly and therefore acts as a bridge. Additional apps can be installed as well.

The NSPanel Pro Gen 2, which can now be pre-ordered directly from the manufacturer, can be viewed from several angles. In principle, it is also a permanently mountable alternative to an Echo Show, though additional apps can also be installed via F-Droid. In that sense, the NSPanel Pro Gen 2 can also be described as an Android terminal. At the same time, the model offers additional connectivity options. WiFi is supported, including both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, but the system also acts as a Matter bridge. Smart home devices that cannot rely on their own WiFi connection can therefore be integrated into the smart home via the NSPanel Pro Gen2. ZigBee 3.0 devices from both Sonoff and third-party manufacturers are supported.

The hardware includes two microphones for voice commands. The RK3326-S SoC is paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The 3.95-inch display has a resolution of 480 × 480 pixels and is a touchscreen. Its brightness can also be controlled using a brightness sensor, so it remains easy to read during the day and is not distracting at night. The NSPanel Pro Gen 2 can detect when a person is standing in front of the device. A speaker is built in. It is also said to be able to display footage from surveillance cameras. The model is currently available to order for around $120, with shipping expected to begin in June.
