New affordable "nano-ceramic" smart ring sports SOS shake gesture, 100-day charging case

Rogbid Zen Ring
ⓘ Rogbid
Rogbid's new smart ring has a touch surface on the band via which you can control the camera shutter, navigation and music playback.
Rogbid's ZenRing brings a nano-ceramic shell with a stainless inner band for $129.99, undercutting many other smart rings (price-wise). Its 4-6 day battery is the shortest in its segment, however, and it ships now in sizes 8-13.

Rogbid already sells four smart rings under the SR line. The ZenRing is a whole different series, it seems. The spec sheet makes it somewhat clear that the company is going for a different customer, not its budget buyers.

The ring has a microcrystal nano-ceramic outer shell with a 316 stainless steel inner band, at 7.5 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick. Sensors take care of heart rate, SpO2, body temperature and a G-sensor for movement, feeding into 24/7 monitoring, sleep tracking and activity detection. A touch surface on the band lets you control camera shutter, navigation and music playback. The ring also has a low power-consumption vibration motor — it delivers alerts for calls, medication and hydration reminders, and scheduled events. Water resistance is rated 5 ATM and the only listed finish is Obsidian Black. Rogbid quotes 4 to 6 days of battery life per charge.

Shaking the ring hand up and down more than ten times triggers an SOS alert that calls a preset emergency contact automatically, this looks to be specifically for older wearers instead of fitness tracking. The included 400 mAh charging case is rated for up to 100 days of standby power on top of the ring's own quoted battery life.

However, that battery figure is still one of the ring's weaker points. RingConn's Gen 2 claims 10 to 12 days, there's no subscription, and you pay $299 on Amazon. Oura's Ring 4 gets you 5 to 8 days, needs a $5.99 monthly membership for full data, and starts at $349. Against that group, the ZenRing's $129.99 price is the main proposition.

The ZenRing is available now direct from Rogbid's online store in sizes 8 to 13.
