New Moto Z3 Play renders surface online with a side-mounted fingerprint reader
Those who were waiting to see more from Lenovo these days than just the upcoming Moto G6 and G6 Plus now have a reason to celebrate, because the Moto Z3 Play was spotted in an FCC listing and a set of unofficial renders surfaced online as well.
The FCC listing reveals a Motorola XT1929 handset with variants for the USA, Verizon Wireless, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, as well as Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The technical specs revealed by this listing include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 4 GB RAM, and 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage.
If Lenovo will not make any other changes in the future, it looks like only Canada and Verizon Wireless will get the 32 GB model, so everyone else will get twice as much storage. On the other hand, the dual-SIM variant apparently won't make it to North America.
Now, the 360-degree video below shows a few key features: contacts for Moto Mods on the back, a fingerprint reader on the side (similar to the one used by the Razer Phone), and back on the rear we also find a dual camera with a housing similar to that of the existing Moto Z models. Sadly, there is no 3.5 mm audio jack in sight.
As it usually happens with FCC listings and unofficial renders, we need to take them with a grain of salt. Since the Moto Z2 Play arrived on the market last June, we should expect for its successor to launch around the same period. In other words: get ready for some more leaks until then.
