New HP laptop receives earlier than expected release with 500-nit OLED display and 70 Wh battery

HP has released a new 14-inch laptop internationally. Arriving sooner than expected, the ProBook 4 G2iS combines a 70 Wh battery with a 500-nit and 120 Hz OLED display, as well as a choice of Intel Wildcat Lake processors and up to 32 GB of RAM.

HP has quietly started selling a new 14-inch laptop with Intel Wildcat Lake processors. Arriving a month ahead of schedule, HP originally slated the ProBook 4 G2iS for a November release when unveiling it at the start of October. Incidentally, the new 14-inch laptop follows on from the ProBook 4 G2i that debuted in July with Panther Lake processors (curr. $1,461 on Amazon).

Now, the ProBook 4 G2iS has landed in both the UK and the US. For the time being, we cannot find any corresponding Eurozone listings yet. In the meantime, the ProBook 4 G2iS starts at £988 (~$1,315) in the UK with the Core 5 315, reportedly discounted from a £1,180.67 MSRP. In comparison, the 14-inch laptop costs at least $1,913 (~$1,436) in the US.

In part, that UK and US price discrepancy can be attributed to the UK having received 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage compared to 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD in the US. To that end HP has priced the ProBook 4 G2iS at £1,422.23 in the UK, discounted to £1,181.80, with a Core 5 315, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. For reference, this SKU costs $2,076 in the US.

Currently, HP is selling four other configurations in the US with Core 5 320 and Core 7 350 processors. By contrast, the UK is stuck with the Core 5 315 for now. All SKUs contain a 70 Wh battery though, as well as LPDDR5x-6400 RAM and Bluetooth 5.3/Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. Moreover, the ProBook 4 G2iS always features an 1800p OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage.

Please note that shipments will not begin until December 7 in the US. Meanwhile, the UK should receive pre-orders within 2-4 weeks from October 28. Full US configurations and pricing are as follows:

  • Core 7 350, 32 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD - $2,758
