EVGA recently outed a firmware update for select GeForce RTX 3080 Ti LHR models that addresses a memory "power lock" issue and boosts cryptocurrency mining performance by up to 20 percent. Redditors and users on the EVGA forums previously described a problem where EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti cards would underclock the core clock frequency when the card was operating under memory-intensive workloads like Ethereum mining.
This resulted in rather disappointing hashrates, in the 60-70 MH/s range. After getting feedback from miners on its forum, EVGA apparently released a vBIOS update that fixes the core downclocking issue. With the new BIOS installed, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti LHR users saw Ethereum hashrates jump to as high as 91 MH/s in optimal conditions.
Considering the extreme pricing of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti due to market supply issues, a 20 percent boost to the card's Ethereum hashrate could significantly cut down on the breakeven time for miners.
