An unnamed AD102-based graphics card has been benchmarked by a Twitter leaker. It outputs 160 FPS in Control at 4K with all the graphics presets cranked to the maximum and DLSS enabled. The SKU in question could likely be the tentative Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti.

Tentative specifications of Nvidia's next-generation AD102 GPU have been out and about for quite some time now. Among other things, it is expected to feature 16,384 CUDA cores, 128 streaming multiprocessors, and boost clocks that can go as high as 3.0 GHz. These specs will reportedly result in a 100% performance uplift over the GeForce RTX 3090. Now, there is (somewhat) definitive proof about that claim in a supposed gaming test.

Twitter leaker Kopite7Kimi has learned from another insider @XpeaGPU that a mystery Nvidia GPU using the AD102 GPU has managed to churn out 160 frames per second in Control at 4K, with DLSS and raytracing switched on. On our test rig with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, the game ran at an average of 62 FPS with the High preset and maximum raytracing. That represents a hefty increase in performance, despite the numerous unknowns in the equation.

For starters, the specifications of the remaining test rig are unknown. The gains in performance stop being GPU bound once a next-generation Raptor Lake or Zen 4 CPU is thrown in the mix. Furthermore, the leak only specifies that the graphics card is running a full-fat AD102 GPU, leaving us with two options, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 or the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti. The chances of it being the latter are a tad higher, as the former will very likely use a cut-down version of the AD102.

Kopite7kimi also lets slip that the mystery AD102-powered graphics card could guzzle as much as 800 Watts under full load. The leaker adds that a GPU featuring a full AD102 GPU is already being tested. However, it may not see the light of day until next year, as the GeForce RTX 4090 is supposedly the only next-gen Nvidia graphics card slated to hit shelves in 2022.
