The Motorola Moto G8 Plus is a midrange smartphone that wants to impress with its cameras in particular. Long battery life and a bright screen are other aspects that speak for the device, but there are also weak points. You can find out in this review whether it's good enough for a purchase recommendation.

The Moto G8 Plus brings more power to the table with a versatile camera system array, stereo speakers, minimal bezels and an efficient battery management system. It's a competent budget device, although it's got a few problems.

Strong battery life, refined design over its predecessor and ample performance show the G8 Plus has progressed. But while its problems are few and far between, the cheaper G8 Power delivers much the same (minus the 48MP camera) with better battery life for less - making that the Moto to buy.

The Moto G8 Plus is an interesting option for users looking for a near-stock Android experience on a budget. It brings all-day battery life, an interesting action camera setup, and reliable performance to the mid-range segment. However, devices by Xiaomi and Realme offer better hardware at the same price, which makes the Moto G8 Plus a tough sell.

Having said that, there are bits about the Moto G8 Plus that make it hard to recommend wholeheartedly. It's the display that has us put off the most, and the ultra-wide video camera doesn't really get us excited either. If you have the option to go for a Redmi Note 8T, which is cheaper, or the Realme X2, which is an overall better phone, you need to be seriously hung up on the G8 Plus' audio prowess to choose Moto.

The Moto G8 Plus is an excellent device when it comes to media consumption and battery life. It has very good stereo speakers, a solid battery life, a fine display and above all, a clean Android experience. Compared to Motorola One series models, the Moto G8 Plus is the best Motorola device out of all the available options in the price range.

Overall, I’d recommend the Moto G8 Plus to those who are looking for an affordable phone with excellent battery life, a user-friendly design, adequate performance for the price, and a clean Android experience. It could prove to be an excellent device for youths who like vlogging and filming stuff with the Action cam. If you’re looking to get a mid-range Motorola phone these days, this is the one you should be looking at.

If you have a Moto G7 Plus, or recent Motorola One-series smartphone then there’s little reason to upgrade to the Moto G8 Plus. But, if you are on an older phone, then it remains a solid mid-range Android phone that gets nearly all the basics right. The only serious shortcoming is that its camera could do with a little work and its RAM count is a little low by today’s standards.

Based on the performance, the Moto G8 Plus justifies its asking price of Rs 13,999. The phone has a good camera, a dedicated Action Camera, good audio quality, smooth performance, and long battery backup. There is a lot of competition in the under Rs 15,000 price segment, but Moto G8 Plus surely holds its own.

The Moto G8 Plus isn’t a bad phone. However, it is outpaced by the sheer number of excellent options available to buyers in the mid-range segment. Sure, it delivers a stock-like Android experience, but this isn’t a good enough reason for you to live with a sub-par camera and mediocre internals. Finally, toss in the inaccurate display and smudge-prone body, and the Moto G8 Plus just doesn’t come across as a very good deal.

The Moto G8 Plus delivers in principal areas like imaging, performance and battery life. It also brings a premium-looking design, a clean user experience and some smart modifications on top the Android experience to the table. The 48MP main camera offers a greatly-improved photography experience, while the Action Cam, with its ultrawide angle lens, grants the phone some impressive cinematography skills too. Add to that a big battery with fast charging and decent mid-range performance, all for less than its predecessor and the G8 Plus is a tempting offering indeed. At least it would be if it weren't for the aggressive competition from the likes of Realme, Xiaomi and beyond complicating matters.

Motorola has made a competitive smartphone that can take on to competition without much effort. The company has done the basics right by at least offering latest specs, multiple-camera setup, wide-angle video recording while holding the phone in portrait mode, dual speaker setup, which is loud and clear and a relatively better processor, which is powerful enough to handle most day-to-day tasks.

Strong battery life, refined design over its predecessor and ample performance for the price put the G8 Plus in a great spot. Its problems are few and far between, with only the increasingly strong competition putting a question mark over this handset as taking the affordable phone king crown.

Even so, there's a lot more competition at this more affordable end of the smartphone spectrum than there was when the G series was in its infancy. If you're happy to spend only a little more (and put up with a heavily customised version of Android), the Xiaomi Mi 9T packs in a bit more bleeding-edge tech for your cash, and the Honor 20 Lite gives camera fans a bit more flexibility for stills shooting. Not quite the default option under £250, then - but you'd be foolish to leave it off your shortlist.

All things considered, the Moto G8 Plus manages to pack in a decent set of features, with its strengths being the lean Android experience, very good stereo speakers, solid battery life, a crisp display, and above-average camera quality when shooting in daylight. Compared to Motorola's One series models such as the One Macro (Review), One Action (Review), and One Vision (Review), which all hover within the same price range, we'd pick the G8 Plus for its better display and slightly faster SoC.

This is tricky to answer. So far, we have established that the Moto G8 Plus is an overall good daily driver and it nails the essentials well. It has got fast performance for daily tasks, a pair of good cameras with an impressive night mode, an all-day battery life even with heavy usage and big colourful display. If you aren't a power user, the Moto G8 Plus fulfils all the basic needs one expects from an affordable smartphone.

While there's a lot of testing still to do to assess everything that the new Moto G8 Plus has to offer, the fact that it all comes in cheaper than the phone it replaces - while upgrading in a number of areas, is a really aggressive move from Moto. This could very much become the defacto affordable phone of choice for many. We like Moto's clean Android experience, we think this is a good looking phone and we think you get a lot for your money. We'll be working on a full review of this phone and we'll update as soon as we can.

The Moto G8 Plus is a fairly unique piece of hardware in a highly competitive space. The action camera on the back is a great addition that makes a lot of sense for users. It’s a shame it can’t be used to capture photos as well. While it is too early to form an opinion on battery life, recent Motorola phones have done well here and the 4,000mAh battery should definitely help with all-day usage. Add to that the reasonably good performance and near-stock build of Android, and you are looking at a solid entry into the mid-range space.

With the Moto G8 Power, Motorola has refined the concept of an inexpensive smartphone with long battery life. Its hardware is not only suitable for everyday use, but it also has surprisingly good cameras. Read on to find what else the Moto G8 Power offers besides battery life and decent cameras.

Despite their similar names and large-capacity batteries, there are more differences than similarities between these two phones. The more affordable handset doesn't always come off worse -- if you need two SIMs and MicroSD expansion, then look to the £149.99 G8 Power Lite. But the Lite model's screen is disappointing and the processor is underpowered, and it's noticeably larger and more unwieldy. So if your budget stretches the extra £70, we recommend the £219.99 Moto G8 Power.

The Moto G8 Power is a solid budget phone that performs better than its price would suggest. Motorola has added more cameras, and refined its look to mimic the flourishes of flagship smartphones, including smaller bezels and a punch-hole in the display for the selfie camera. Moto purists may be dismayed by the departure from the line’s signature design, but the phone’s performance, cameras, and extensive battery life should endear it to folks looking for a solid phone at a low cost.

Motorola's market share has been on the up and up here in the US, and its staple G-series of phones was recently enriched with three new budget models - the G8 Power, G8 Power Lite and the G8 itself. Just like the G7 series last year, they differ by battery capacity, among other specs, and come at budget phone prices, carrying big displays with them. Needless to say, the Power models stand for long battery life, as both ship with 5000mAh packs, and we found the new Motos to deliver some record longevity in our benchmark tests indeed. If you are looking for a budget phone with an incredible battery life and a great price, the Moto G8 Power seems to be the way to go.

This is the latest offering from Motorola the Moto g8; it can work using the three buttons at the base of the screen or after a single click in Settings with ‘Gestures’. Unlike a lot of recent phones this still has a 3.5mm socket for headphones or earbuds. It also comes with a clear cover for the back and sides for protection for the odd drop.

Yes, you can go out there and get yourself a phone with a blazing fast processor. Yes, you can get one that costs nearly £1,000 and has a stack of cameras and a whole bucket-full of tricks. But what if you want one that doesn’t cost the Earth and has a really decent battery life?

The G8 Power has a large battery and a nice screen but these are no longer enough to make for a truly compelling smartphone offer. What we miss here is more fluid performance and better camera image quality. In their current implementation, they are not up to the level of the competition in this price range.

If you've got a budget of around £200 then this a great choice, it's good across the board, with an excellent battery, and a good screen. The camera is decent and very versatile, while performance matches that of other phones in the same price bracket.

With a big battery and simple specs, the Moto G8 Power will last for days without breaking a sweat. On the downside it’s not much of a looker, it can get a little sluggish, and while the main camera lens is fine the additional shooters don’t add much. This price point is all about priorities though, so if battery is yours then look no further.

If you're shopping on a budget: the Moto G8 Power is the class-leading affordable phone with an immense battery. It improves upon the G7 in most departments - screen, design, storage - with its only real lackings being no NFC and slow Wi-Fi.

Personally what lets this phone down is the fact you do not get NFC support for contactless payment and at the time of writing this review, we are in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak. Wireless payments have never been more important and this phone not supporting NFC is a big negative in my opinion. However, if you can look past that downfall this phone is a decent mid-range with a good camera and long-life battery being the key reasons you would buy this phone.

While the Moto G8 Power isn’t quite as impressive or affordable as its predecessor, and somewhat eclipsed by the G8 Plus, it’s still well worth considering if battery life is a priority.

We haven’t had enough time with the phone to provide you with definitive buying advice, but it certainly looks promising from our initial impressions. The behemoth of a battery will almost certainly be a strong recommending factor, and the screen also looks pleasant too, while the processor should be capable enough of handling typical day-to-day activities without a problem. The camera demands more cautious attention, as I wasn’t completely sold on what I saw at first – but the fact there are more cameras to play around with compared to its predecessor is an encouraging sign. It looks like a capable device, but before you make the decision to buy it’s worth waiting for our upcoming full review with our final verdict.

Motorola's Moto G series has been a staple of reliable mid-range smartphones for many years. The Moto G8 is more affordable than its predecessor and, for the first time, features a zoom lens. Sounds like a good deal, right?

The Moto G8 is easily one of the best phones you can buy for under £200 – offering many strong features that most budget phones fail to nail. A disappointing display prevents the G8 from achieving greatness but there’s still a whole lot to like.

The Moto G8 isn’t going to floor you in what it can do, but considering the price you should be impressed with what Motorola has managed to fit into this tight and consistently well-performing package. With strong battery life, great performance for the money, and a few other little improvements, the Moto G8 is a great phone for many who need a budget choice.

In terms of battery life, our experiences with the Motorola Moto G8 weren’t that different to the kind of mileage I got from the Moto G8 Plus. Since they both pack the same specs when it comes to processor and battery, that’s not a huge surprise. Fortunately, that meant I could comfortably go two-days of regular usage on a single charge. The Moto G8 Plus isn’t going to hit the heights of something like the Galaxy Note 10 for power users but it is going to last a decently long time.

At the end of the day, it’s pretty clear to me that the Motorola G8 offers a lot of bang for not a lot of dollars. If you’re shopping in the sub $400 price range for an outright phone, this phone deserves to be on your list despite the fact it only costs $329 through JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, The Good Guys and Mobileciti.

There’s a lot to be said for a phone that does the job. The G8 looks decent, has enough power to get you through a full day without stutters, and packs a seriously respectable camera for the price. Is the G8 perfect? No. At night, its camera crumbles, like most phones in its price range, and it also misses out on NFC. What’s more, for £10 more, you could pick up the battery-tastic Realme 6i. That said, if you want a reliable experience, a stock interface, and a great value for money smartphone, you won’t be disappointed by Motorola’s latest G.

The Moto G8 might look like rivals and be cheaper than its predecessor but there are various downgrades here that don't make much sense. Unless the long battery life and stock Android are enough to tempt you, there are better rivals out there for the same price or not much more.

The Moto G8 is certainly a device worth considering if you’re on a £200 budget. However, I reckon it would be worth saving a little more for the Motorola G8 Power. This handset has a handy extra camera, a much larger battery, and a markedly better screen, while the price is not drastically higher. The Motorola G8 is a good phone for this price point, delivering a strong processor, a large screen and a reliable camera. However, the camera isn’t as versatile as I would have liked, and the screen quality is fairly lacking.

Affordable phones used to mean all kinds of compromises, but the Moto G8 shows that you can now buy on a budget without giving up some of the finesse. Sure, don't expect the world from this device's camera setup, plus it lacks in some spec areas where its other G series models offer more - the G8 Power has more resolution and battery capacity, for example - but that's not to hold this device back. Far from it.

Honestly, despite some flaws with the device, I have to say there is a lot to like about the Moto G8 Power Lite, but also a lot to possibly dislike about the device too. Would I consider buying one? Possibly but it is a little hard to say given there is a lot of competition out there for the same price point, such as Vivo, Xiaomi, Nokia and OPPO. Though it might be worth more paying an extra $70 to $150 for the Moto G8 or G8 Plus models.

The Moto G8 Power Lite is cheap and has a long-lasting battery, and if that’s all you’re looking for from your phone, it’s likely a device you’ll be happy with. In some ways Motorola has tried too hard to hide the phone’s ‘budget’ roots, notably with the large screen and three rear cameras, and these attempts fall a little flat, but look past the pretences and this is one of the best cheap phones you can buy.

Priced at Rs. 8,999, the Moto G8 Power Lite offers good amounts of RAM and storage, which not many others do. I really like the simple design, large display, good battery life and no-nonsense take on Android, even though it's still an older version. The main camera is functional if you give it good light, but otherwise, the cameras are not great. The processor also feels a little too weak for gaming or doing anything intensive.

Is the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite a worthy buy for Rs 8,999? Based on my usage and experience, it surely is. Motorola has done a couple of things right, including the display quality, battery life, a clean Android experience and a nice camera setup (main camera). Additionally, it looks great. There are some drawbacks too, especially when you consider the older Helio P35 chip, an outdated Android version, an average front camera and micro USB port. As a consumer, it completely depends upon you whether the combination of these pros and cons make sense.

Motorola: The original company Motorola Inc was split in 2011. Motorola Mobility got the smartphone range and was taken over by Google in 2012 and by Lenovo in 2014. The Motorola smartphone brand continues for the time being. There are still a lot of reviews on Motorola Mobiles with average ratings.
