Motorola Edge 50 unveiled in India with MIL-810-STD rating, triple rear cameras, and fast charging

The Motorola Edge 50 boasts military-grade toughness in a slim body. It also packs some pretty decent specs including a telephoto camera and a big battery that charges superfast.

The Motorola Edge 50 is the newest addition to the Edge 50 series which also includes the Edge 50 Fusion (available for €403 on Amazon.de), Edge 50 Pro, and Edge 50 Ultra. The new phone retains the design of the other Edge 50 models but also has its own unique features, chief of which is its build quality.

Motorola touts the Edge 50 as the world's slimmest IP68 MIL-810H Military Grade certified smartphone. The device itself comes in at 7.79mm thick, has a metal frame, and weighs 180 grams. It is available in Jungle Green which has a vegan leather finish, as well as Pantone Peach Fuzz and Koala Grey which have a vegan suede finish.

The Motorola Edge 50 has a 6.7-inch pOLED display that's curved at the sides. Protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the screen has a 2712 x 1220 resolution, HDR10+, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. There's also a fingerprint scanner under the display. Like its siblings, it has a Qualcomm processor - the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition which has a 2.5GHz CPU clock speed. The standard version of the chipset found in the Samsung Galaxy F55 has a 2.4GHz CPU clock speed.

The phone will be available in a single configuration with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The Edge 50 packs triple rear cameras that include a 50MP f/1.8 primary sensor with OIS, a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera with a 120-degree field of view and support for shooting macro images, and a 10MP f/2.0 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Up in front is a 32MP autofocus camera that can record in 4K.

There's a 5,000mAh battery inside the phone and it supports 68W TurboPower fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Motorola includes a 68W charger in the box along with a protective case. The Motorola Edge 50 also has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, and dual SIM support. Motorola ships it with Android 14 and promises it will receive 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates.

Available only in India for now, the Motorola Edge 50 is priced at INR 25,999 (~$310).
