Mophie launches new 18W Powerstation PD series for iPhone and Android
Mophie is currently the number one mobile battery pack maker in the US and the Zagg-owned company is looking to build on this with its latest Powerstation line. The new Powerstation PD and Powerstation PD XL chargers come in 6,700 mAh and 10,050 mAh sizes respectively and support 18W charging speeds. According to Mophie, Powerstation PDs will charge an iPhone 2.5 times faster or up to 50 percent in 30 minutes than the regular 5W charger Apple ships in the box with new iPhones.
The ‘PD’ in the model designation reflects that the new Powerstation PD series have been built using the power delivery protocol. This allows the USB-C PD port to deliver fast charging at 18W and itself be recharged quickly over the same port at 15W. Combined with Mophie’s proprietary Priority+ chargin, power is sent to connected device using the USB-A port before the Powerstation charges. Charging status and current battery life are displayed using an LED power indicator.
As is often the case with Mophie’s battery packs, the new models have been finished in its high-quality textured design that gives the devices a premium look and feel in the hand. They have also been put through the company’s triple certification process checking for both safety and performance. The Mophie Powerstation PD are available now from the company’s website for US$60 and US$80 respectively.
