Momentum 4 Wireless: Sennheiser teases next-generation Momentum over-ear headphones with up to 60 hours of battery life
Sennheiser has taken the unusual decision of teasing features and availability of next-generation Momentum Wireless headphones. In a press release, Sennheiser has confirmed that the headphones will arrive as the Momentum 4 Wireless, succeeding the Momentum 3 Wireless that debuted in December 2019.
Not only has Sennheiser overhauled the design of its Momentum over-ear headphones, but it also claims to have significantly improved battery runtimes. While the company has not provided any specifics yet, it bills the Momentum 4 Wireless as offering up to 60 hours of battery life. In comparison, Sennheiser rates the Momentum 3 Wireless for up to 17 hours of use, far below the 30-hour runtimes of the Sony WH-1000XM5.
Additionally, the Momentum 4 Wireless appears to follow the design language of Sennheiser's Momentum True Wireless earbuds. The carry case in the cropped photo looks rather large, though. Potentially, the Momentum 4 Wireless may not be foldable, a design change that Sony introduced with the WH-1000XM5. So far, Sennheiser teases that the Momentum 4 Wireless features an 'all-new lightweight design' with cushioned synthetic leather earpads that it has optimised for acoustic performance and wearing comfort.
Unsurprisingly, the Momentum 4 Wireless will offer active noise cancellation (ANC). Moreover, Sennheiser has equipped the headphones with 42 mm transducer drivers and voice pick up microphones. Sennheiser has not confirmed how much the Momentum 4 Wireless costs yet, but the headphones will be available globally in August.
