Model X now qualifies for full tax credit with free colors as Tesla cuts FSD Beta price
Tesla barely waited for the summer to be over to launch the Model 3 Highland preorders, but it didn't stop here as it also cut the Model S, Model X, and FSD Beta price by up to 20%!
The Full Self-Driving Beta software option now costs US$12,000 instead of $15,000, while the Model X just got under the price threshold for a full tax credit eligibility.
Tesla says that the Model X price now starts from $68,590 after the $7,500 tax credit and $3,900 gas savings, while the Model S starts from $71,090, again after the potential gas savings. While the gas savings could be debatable, the eligibility for the government's new EV tax credit are without a doubt. The new Model X price is now pegged at $79,990, ten bucks below the threshold that qualifies a new electric SUV for the federal subsidies in the Inflation Reduction Act.
Unfortunately, as is the case with its other vehicles, Tesla warns that the tax credit amount may be reduced after December 31, as the share of its EVs with Chinese batteries or materials increases.
To soothe the eventual tax credit reduction pain, however, and to make the new Model X and Model S deal even sweeter, Tesla made all the colors of its premium models free. That's right, every Model S or Model X color, down to the Ultra Red option, is now included in the purchase price. The Model 3 Highland refresh, on the other hand, launched with two new color options in China - Flame Red and Starry Grey - but they are both a paid option.
