Is the Steam Summer Sale overrated? Maybe not, but some of the smaller sales that Steam runs throughout the year certainly can make it seem that way. Here are some of the best Steam Sale bargains to be had this August, from Midweek Madness, to Weekend Deals, and everything in-between.

1. Naraka: Bladepoint - 50% off until August 29

Naraka: Bladepoint is a battle royal hero shooter slasher that puts even the likes of Apex Legends to shame when it comes to engaging, fast-paced combat and extreme mobility. Take control of one of 12 characters to engage in up to 60-player PvP combat using historically-inspired martial arts melee and gunplay. If you've ever wished you could play a game like Soulcalibur against 59 other players in a stunning environment full of colour, life, and—most importantly—places to lay in wait to ambush your enemies, Naraka: Bladepoint might just be for you.

You can grab Naraka: Bladepoint for only US$9.99 until August 29, 2022.

2. Enter the Gungeon - 67% off until August 25

Enter the Gungeon is—perhaps unsurprisingly—a bullet hell dungeon crawler with roguelike elements. Explore, dodge, roll, shoot, and boss-fight your way through an army of undead while you navigate a labyrinth of traps and dungeons in order to find a legendary gun that can kill the past—who doesn't like a pseudo-pixel-art game with adorably-animated characters and an odd premise?

If any of that sounds like your cup of tea, you should take a look at Enter the Gungeon while it's only US$4.94, and if you're not sure if it's your cup of tea, fortunately you can play Enter the Gungeon for free until August 21, 2022.

3. Borderlands 3 (and Borderlands 2!) - 75% off until September 2

If you're even remotely into gaming, you've at least heard of the Borderlands franchise in passing. Step into the shoes of the vault hunters and become a living legend, as you explore Pandora and shoot the many creatures that call it home while you rob their corpses for shiny new loot. If you haven't cared to pay close to US$50 for an almost three-year-old game, or you missed out when the Epic Games Store gave it away for free, now is as good a time as any to have a look at the genre-defining franchise that so many gamers both love and loathe.

Borderlands 2 (US$4.99) and Borderlands 3 (US$14.99) are 75% off until September 2, 2022—a perfect combo for all the patient gamers out there.

If you're all about gaming bargains, the 8Bitdo SN30 Pro USB Gamepad is one of the best value-for-money controllers you can buy, and it's available on Amazon.

4. Prey (2017) - 75% off until August 30

2017's Prey is a story-driven first person sci-fi shooter that bears no resemblance to the original Prey from 2006, but—regardless of the development drama and creative direction—it managed to earn overwhelmingly positive reviews, nonetheless. In Prey, you find yourself on the often claustrophobic "open world" of the Talos I station that's been infested by a group of unsettling, shapeshifting aliens known only as Typhon. Prey is a first-person shooter by name alone, as much of what the game has to offer is found in its exploration and intellectual challenges. If you've enjoyed the likes of the Dead Space franchise, but you could use something a little less horrific and a little more intellectual, you might find Prey will scratch that itch.

You can practically steal Prey for only US$7.49 on Steam until August 30, 2022.
