Microsoft executive Panos Panay revealed on November 29, 2012 that the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet will enter the US market in January 2013 with prices starting at $899. With rumors spreading that sales of the Microsoft Surface have not been as overwhelming as the company hoped for, it seems like a wise move for Microsoft to champion its new Windows 8 powered device sooner rather than later.
The Microsoft Surface Pro offers specifications as follows: up to 128 GB of storage space, an Intel Core i5 processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4 GB RAM, 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD Display offering a resolution of 1920x1080 and 2x 720p HD LifeCams. Weighing in at just 2 pounds and coming in a 0.5-inch thick magnesium case, the Microsoft Surface Pro should be a tablet worth considering.
The tablet will not come with the Surface keyboard cover, which will have to be bought separately. The $899 price tag will be for the 64 GB version of the device, with the 128 GB version having a retail price of $999. The Surface RT model currently retails at $499 for the 32 GB device and $699 for the 64 GB version (with keyboard cover).
