Microsoft Surface Windows 8 Pro tablet coming on February 9
Microsoft has announced in a press release that it will soon start selling the Surface Windows 8 Pro tablet. Apparently, the business-class portable device delivers “the performance of a laptop in a tablet package” and features a stylus pen with Palm Block technology that allows you to write on the screen even if your palm rests on it. The Redmond, WA corporation will launch its latest mobile product on February 9 in the USA and Canada; it will be available at Microsoft’s retail stores, Staples, Best Buy “and other locations in Canada” with a starting price of USD $899 (for the 64GB version).
Panos Panay, General Manager at Microsoft Surface was quoted as saying: “The response to Surface has been exciting to see,” … “We’re thrilled to continue growing the Surface family with the availability of Surface Windows 8 Pro on Feb. 9 and by increasing the number of places customers can experience Surface firsthand.”
The 2lbs (0,91kg) slate PC is reportedly powered by a Dual-Core, Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5 processor and the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics controller. In addition, it sports a 10.6-inch ClearType 10-point multi-touch panel of 1920-by-1080 pixels native resolution and measures 0.53-inch thick.
According to the manufacturer, the Surface Pro houses up to 4GB of dual-channel RAM and a Solid-State Drive with a storage capacity of up to 128GB. Users are further provided with a full-size USB 3.0 port, a microSDXC card reader, mini DisplayPort, rear- and front-facing HD LifeCams, a Cover port, Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 radios.
The software giant has also announced that it will soon release a new Wedge Touch Mouse (USD $69.95) and a trio of limited edition Touch Covers in red, magenta and cyan, priced at USD $130 each.
