Multiple users still complain of heating, lockups and WiFi/Bluetooth connection issues, although Microsoft released three firmware updates during June and July.

While most Microsoft Surface Pro 3 users do not have problems with their devices yet, it looks like there are also enough people who face various issues and their problems persist even after the third firmware update which was launched almost two weeks ago.

InfoWorld spotted a few posts on Answers.Microsoft.com that reveal multiple problems reported by users in the last few days and rounded them up, adding that these issues are "likely associated with faulty firmware and/or drivers." Fortunately, it seems that latest updates solved the problems in most cases.

On July 25, a Surface Pro 3 user reported that "Heat issues started on day 1 of owning the device and have had SP3 for 3-4 weeks now" but others claim the latest patches solved this problem they also had with their slates.

Freezes have been reported as well and no solution has been found yet. "Mine has frozen 8 times since I bought it. I have spent 7.5 hours on the phone with support. No resolution." writes another user.

The earliest Microsoft Surface Pro 3 issue concerns WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Both disappear from Device Manager after the tablet sleeps for a longer period, especially when its battery is low on power.

While various workarounds for all these issues have been posted online, it seems like the safest thing to do is a software update to the latest version available. If this does not solve the problem, the tablet should be replaced by Microsoft or maybe a future firmware will take care of it.
