Less than a month after its release, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet PC gets a third software update. This is a cumulative update and is said to increase performance and improve stability.

Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 3 tablet PC back in May and this new member of the Surface series of devices hit the market in the US and Canada exactly one month later, on June 20. The first batch of software updates was released in June, followed by two updates this month, the last one being listed as "System Firmware Update – 7/16/2014" or "System Hardware Update – 7/16/2014."

This Microsoft Surface Pro 3 software update is a cumulative package which consists of both firmware and driver files. These are the latest things added:

  • Surface Integration (v.2.0.1038.0) for increased system stability
  • Bluetooth and Wireless Network Controller (v. 15.68.3044.85) for enhanced WiFi throughput and connection stability

This package also includes the previous update, which was released on July 8 and included firmware updates for the following components: Surface Pro Embedded Controller, Surface Pro System Aggregator, Surface Type Cover.

The package can be downloaded and installed via Windows Update or manually, since these updates are not delivered at once but in stages. This means not every Surface Pro 3 gets them at the same time through Microsoft's update service included with Windows and manually downloading and installing is sometimes the fastest solution.
