Microsoft announced the Surface Book earlier this month, and all models expected to hit the market can be already pre-ordered. Unfortunately, those interested may have to wait at least 5 to 6 weeks (shipping time estimated for the Core i5 models with integrated GPU), while the high-end model with 1 TB SSD storage and Core i7 processor will only ship in late January.
The high-end Microsoft Surface Book with Intel Core i7 processor, discrete graphics, and 1 TB storage capacity has a pre-order price of $3,199 USD, similar to the top version of Apple's MacBook Pro. Just as the other Surface Book models, this comes bundled with the Surface Pen and packs a 13.5-inch touchscreen display with 3,000X2,000 pixels, as well as Windows 10 Pro pre-loaded. Additional features include 5 MP/8 MP front/back cameras, two full-size USB 3.0 connectors, TPM chip for security, and more. Its battery should provide over 10 hours of video playback on a single charge (Microsoft only announced 12 hours of autonomy for the i5 models).
At last, those interested in purchasing one of the three models with discrete graphics currently listed in the Microsoft Store will have to wait at least 7 to 8 weeks before their Surface Book laptops begin shipping.
