The new smartphones confirm the specs and looks revealed unofficially at the end of last month and will soon hit the market loaded with Windows 10 Mobile.

The two new Lumia flagships are now official, and it is only a matter of time until they hit the market. For now, Microsoft only unveiled both of them, but without revealing the price and date of availability.

Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will both come loaded with Windows 10 Mobile, but this is not the only thing they have in common. Although their screen sizes are different - 5.2-inch for the 950 and 5.7-inch for the 950 XL - both have the same resolution, 2,560X1,440 pixels. They also have the same 5 MP front camera and a 20 MP image snapper on the back. While the Lumia 950 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip, the larger Lumia 950 XL uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC.

The new Lumia flagships come with advanced security features, including Windows Hello Beta, secure boot, remote device lock and wipe via Internet, hardware accelerated encryption, and much more. We will get back to these Windows 10 Mobile handsets as soon as they become available for pre-order, so stay tuned.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
