Microsoft KB5077241: Windows 11 update adds native taskbar speed test and Sysmon support

Microsoft has released KB5077241 as an optional, non-security preview update for Windows 11 version 24H2 and 25H2, listed as OS Builds 26100.7922 and 26200.7922.
Because it’s a preview update, it won’t install automatically for most users unless they choose it in Windows Update (Microsoft’s monthly “preview” track).
The most noticeable changes
Microsoft’s notes and early coverage highlight a few changes most people will actually notice day to day:
Built-in internet speed test in the taskbar
KB5077241 adds an internet speed test you can run from the network icon on the taskbar.
Better wake from sleep and general responsiveness
Microsoft says the update includes reliability and performance improvements, and Windows Central calls out a focus on faster, more reliable wake-from-sleep behavior alongside broader responsiveness tweaks in common UI areas.
Native Sysmon support
One of the more interesting additions for power users and admins is native System Monitor (Sysmon) functionality, which is typically associated with Sysinternals-style monitoring and security telemetry.
Other improvements Microsoft lists
Depending on your setup, KB5077241 also includes a mix of smaller quality-of-life updates, including Settings and taskbar refinements, plus other usability changes captured in Microsoft’s changelog for the release.
How to get it
To install KB5077241, go to Settings → Windows Update, then check for optional updates (or the preview update prompt). Microsoft’s support entry for KB5077241 is the best reference for the full list of included changes and any known issues.
