Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to release an all-electric C-Class that can travel 500 miles on a single charge. The luxury sedan features ultra-fast 400 kW charging, a modern, tech-focused interior, and is set to go head-to-head with BMW’s i3 electric sedan.
Mercedes first used the custom-made ‘Iconic Grille’ design on the GLC EQ. The feature distinguishes EVs from their combustion-engine counterparts, and each new electric model has its own interpretation of the design. The C-Class EQ, the second electric model to feature the grille, was first showcased at the Munich Motor Show. It is built on the proprietary MB.EA platform, similar to the GLC EQ. The 800V system enables quicker charging and improved overall efficiency.
Compared to the petrol version, the C-Class EQ has a longer wheelbase and wider tracks, resulting in more cabin space, sharper handling, and improved stability during driving. One of the biggest changes is in passenger comfort, addressing a common pain point: limited rear legroom and headroom in the EQ. The boot is larger too, and there is extra storage space up front.
The car will be offered in two configurations: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive model with up to 335 bhp, and a dual-motor 4Matic all-wheel-drive version delivering up to 482 bhp. They both come with a 94.5 kWh NMC battery and a range of about 497 miles (800 km).
The German automaker is also developing an AMG performance variant, slated for release in 2027. Powered by axial flux motors from UK-based Yasa, the AMG is expected to deliver more than 680 bhp.
