Mechrevo is readying its first Intel Meteor Lake laptops, with several outlets now pre-selling the refreshed 14 Pro models powered by the Core Ultra 5 125H processor. MiniXPC - a reputable Hong Kong mini PC and laptop outlet that ships worldwide - has these models up for pre-order at $969.99 and free shipping to NA, EU or Australia. No mention on the exact shipping dates, however.
The Meteor Lake 14 Pro model weighs slightly more (150 g) than the Acer Swift Go 14, although it has a similar profile of 16.95 mm. This is most likely due to the IPS panel and the non-soldered RAM. Nevertheless, the IPS display offers almost the same specs as the OLED from the Acer model, as it too features 2.8K resolution with 120 Hz refresh rate, 400 nit brightness plus 180-degree hinge, yet it is only capable of reproducing 100% sRGB. The price difference is dictated by the 32 GB DDR5-5600 RAM that can be upgraded to 64 GB and the 2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage that can be expanded to 8 TB via two M.2 slots.
On the port selection side, the Mechrevo cannot compete with the Acer Swift Go 14. It is still above average, though, since it offers 1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with charging, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.0 video out and 3.5 mm audio jack. There is no mention about the resolution of the webcam, but judging by the similar chassis that is borrowed from Lenovo, it most likely is a 1080p solution.
As far as design changes go, the power button that was found on one of the port sides with previous models is now above the keyboard and integrates a fingerprint reader. No GbE jack means that Internet connectivity is most likely provided through a Wi-Fi 6E card, but Mechrevo forgot to specify this detail. There is a 60 Wh battery, as well, which can be charged via USB-C with a 100 W brick.
