Model: Gamers are ready to pay a lot of money for a gaming device. They require a device with high performance and many useful functions. The MSI GV72 7RE is a typical example. It is not cheap, but there will not be many technical issues with it. It features a powerful processor, enough RAM, an Nvidia graphics card capable of coping with a lot of tasks. The chassis of this device uses metal and plastic. The structure is characterized by rigidity. Lid and base unit are hard enough to bend. There are no questions to the assembly at all. Gaps and cracks are absent. The form of the laptop is a little streamlined as there are no overly pointed corners. The hinges hold the display securely in the desired position. The laptop is quite comfortable to hold in hands, besides it does not slip. The laptop is equipped with a matte 17.3-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Besides a 5ms response time, the 120 Hz panel produces up to 120 individual picture frames per second. The screen is based on the TN-matrix, which cannot provide wide viewing angles. It delivers enough brightness and contrast, colors are transmitted realistically. As a result, watching movies or playing games will be comfortable. The matte screen does not reflect environmental lighting, which is an advantage. The MSI GV72 7RE-862RU runs on 64-bit Windows 10 Home.
The main part of the filling is the processor of the seventh generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ. It is built according to the standards of the 14-nm process technology, its base frequency from 2.8 GHz can increase to 3.8 GHz with support for Turbo Boost. With the help of multi-threading technology, four chip cores can process eight streams of information simultaneously. With the innovative Cooler Boost, 4 cooling solution and MSI’s exclusive gaming features catered for gamers, Nvidia's latest GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU releases its full performance completely on MSI gaming laptops. This graphics accelerator accelerates from 1,493 MHz to 1,620 MHz. Among its technical characteristics is its own GDDR5 VRAM of 2 GB and support for DirectX 12. As for RAM, 8 GB of DDR4-2400 MHz is enough for gaming and similar tasks. The data storage is not limited to a terabyte hard drive. The configuration also provides a fast SSD-drive with a capacity of 128 GB. Interfaces in the laptop are located on the right and left sides. On the left, users can see a pair of USB 3.0, a Gigabit RJ-45 network connector, a headphone output combined with S/PDIF, and a microphone input. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Notebook): Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 965M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version. With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution. » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
7700HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture. Besides four CPU cores (including Hyper Threading), the chips also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU and is manufactured in an improved 14 nm process.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
This large display size is used for laptops which are mainly intended for an use on a desk.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
This weight is representative for typical laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal.
