There's no subtlety about what MSI is trying to achieve with its GT80S Titan SLI laptop. Designed to be one of the fastest gaming laptops ever conceived, it is unabashed in shoehorning powerful components into a chunky 18.4in form factor. And if it's high-end mobile hardware you're after, there's plenty to whet your appetite.

It is mildly disappointing the screen only supports Full HD resolution and this clearly requires an upgrade as soon as possible. Every other aspect of the Titan is simply amazing and while the size, weight and price mean it isn’t especially practical there is no denying Titan sets a very high benchmark. The chances that you will buy Titan are remote, and we equally doubt many other manufacturers will try to copy this concept, but Titan shows just what is possible. In that sense Titan is similar to Concorde – it will never be common or widespread but it is satisfying to know it exists.

Model: MSI is known for making state of the art computers for gaming. The new 18.4 inch MSI GT80S with 1080p 4k full HD screen laptop is top of the line and is full of top specifications for this purpose. The laptop features a backlit keyboard for gaming in the dark. Moreover, it boasts a NVIDIA graphics card to run any demanding game on maximum settings. The computer has an Intel i7 processor to run many apps at the same time. The design is pretty unique. In contrast to most other laptops, the touchpad is not in front of the keyboard, but it is right to it as you would use a traditional mouse.
The trackpad also doubles as a full numerical keyboard. The GT80S has a beautiful dragon design above the keyboard and below the screen. The back is made of the black brushed metal. The sound system also matches the top shelf specs and is very loud. Although the speakers are on the back, the generate a crisp sound. The GT80S is a pretty hefty notebook with above 4.5 kg. However, it has not been made for use on your laps and is not meant to be taken around town. Its sole purpose is gaming in the house and it is has been made to be comparable with desktop PCs.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 SLI (Laptop): Two high-end GeForce GTX 980 cards (not 980M, formerly known as 990M) in SLI. May suffer from micro-stuttering in low fps ranges. Graphics memory may not be added, as both cards have the same information in the memory.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6820HK: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
18.40": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
5.03 kg:
A laptop in this weight range is a heavyweight that you rarely carry around. This is meant for desktops and the devices tend to score with a large display and high performance and replace desktop devices.
