A decent laptop that should serve most people's needs, but battery life is poor. MSI's C series is targeted at those after an everyday computing solution. The CX600-064UK is a part of that series and provides decent performance, an interesting design and mixed portability. Despite a few minor flaws – namely the battery life and keyboard – the MSI CX600- 064UK is a decent machine which should cater for most people's needs.

Last time we checked, the credit crunch had morphed into something of a recession, forcing everyone, tech-hungry geeks included, to re-evaluate what could be considered affordable.
The MSI CX600 offers fabulous value for money. It's fast, well-equipped and even has a discrete graphics card -- a feature many budget laptops can only dream of. Its only drawbacks, in our opinion, are that it isn't very attractive and lacks an HDMI output

For those wanting a larger screen on a budget laptop but not the weight or bulk, the MSI CX600-049US is a surprisingly strong package. In addition to its relatively small size, the system does manage to include a dedicated graphics processor that many laptops in the $600 and less price range lack. Even with these great features, the system is held back somewhat with the inclusion of a 32-bit version of the OS and a number of useful peripheral ports.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330: Lower clocked Radeon 4530 with a current consumption of 7 Watt (according to AMD). Supports DirectX 10.1 and Avivo HD for HD video acceleration.
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.
T6500:
Entry level Penryn based dual-core CPU with a small 2MB level 2 cache and FSB800. Similar to the T6570 but without VT-x.
Intel Pentium Dual Core: The return of the name Pentium, though it is a Yonah core. In fact, it is a double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption.
T4200:
Entry class dual core CPU with 1 MB level 2 cache and no virtualization technology. Compared to the Core 2 Duo line, some power saving mechanism are deactivated.
T4500:
Entry to middle class dual core CPU with 1 MB level 2 cache and no virtualization technology. Compared to the Core 2 Duo line, some power saving mechanism are deactivated.

16.00:
This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.4 kg:
4 kg:
A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.
61.71%: Such a poor rating is rare. There are only a few notebooks that were rated even worse. The rating websites do not give a purchase recommendation here.
