Lunar: 2-in-1 foldable keyboard and mini PC with powerful specs
The Lunar, a mini PC with an AMD APU in the form of a keyboard, is currently being funded as part of a Kickstarter campaign. The device only needs to be unfolded and connected to a display via cable for a complete PC setup. A small touchpad is integrated directly so that a mouse is not necessary.
Lunar measures 153 x 110 x 30 millimeters when folded and weighs less than 800 grams. It can output image content via USB 4, USB 3.2 in type C and USB 3.0 in type A. WiFi and Bluetooth are on board. According to the manufacturer, users can also use Lunar as a hotspot and access data stored on the device. Lunar can also be used solely as a Bluetooth keyboard.
A 59.2 Wh battery is installed and the battery life is specified as 8 to 10 hours. The AMD Ryzen 7 8840U is a computing chip also known from gaming handhelds. Depending on the selected configuration, the RAM is up to 32 GB in size, while an SSD of up to 1 TB is available for storage.
Lunar will be delivered to supporters on Kickstarter for a contribution starting at $579. Shipping is scheduled for January 2025. Potential buyers should be aware of the risk that such campaigns entail, which we would rate as high in this case. Those who simply want a foldable keyboard and not necessarily a mini PC can take a look at the iClever foldable keyboard at Amazon.
