A new case for the Raspberry Pi has been successfully funded on Kickstarter, and it comes with almost 200 RGB LEDs built-in. The LumiCube should be simple for Raspberry Pi beginners to realise and includes an IPS display, among other features.

With the LumiCube, Abstract Foundry has created a case for the Raspberry Pi that looks like no other. As the image above shows, the LumiCube has programmable LEDs that give off a Rubik's Cube vibe. There are 192 LEDs in total, along with 2 W speakers, a microphone, and a sensor for detecting gestures and light intensity. Additionally, Abstract Foundry has included an accelerometer and has provided access to the Raspberry Pi's I/O.

Moreover, the company has included an IPS display with a 320 x 240 resolution, push buttons and an environment sensor. Abstract Foundry bills the LumiCube as the 'ultimate Raspberry Pi kit' as it can be deployed for various projects using a simple browser-based development environment. Abstract Foundry states that the LumiCube can be programmed in Python and could serve as the control centre for smart home devices.

The project has been funded on Kickstarter, where it has raised over £30,000. However, the LumiCube is still available to back from £81. Abstract Foundry hopes to start shipping the device to backers from September 2021.
