Lucid releases cheapest Gravity SUV with 1000V charging and Tesla beating efficiency

Lucid has started going downmarket with its Gravity line, just as promised, making the most energy efficient electric SUV in the US much more affordable.

While not the sub-$50,000 Tesla Model Y competitor, the new Gravity trim costs $15,000 less than the inaugural Grand Touring edition.

Lucid Gravity Touring price and range

The newly released Gravity Touring starts from $79,990, or as much as the Lucid Air Touring sedan, and is powered by the same 89 kWh "Long Range" battery of Lucid.

While the battery capacity may seem comparatively low, Lucid prides itself in developing the most efficient electric drive train sold in the US, delivering a record 5 miles of range per kWh in the case of the RWD Air Pure.

The Lucid Gravity Touring range is 337 miles as it is a larger AWD SUV, but that's still way better than its Tesla Model X competitor, despite the larger size. The combined 560 HP dual-motor output accelerates the Gravity Touring from 0-60 mph in four seconds, so the SUV is no slouch, either. For comparison, the AWD Model X does it in 3.8 seconds for $20,000 more, while charging much slower than the Lucid.

Lucid equipped the Gravity Touring with its custom 1000V charging architecture that allows adding up to 200 miles of range in 15 minutes at a V4 Supercharger, as it sports a native NACS port.

The typical for Lucid luxury interior that is available in the higher trim has been kept for the Gravity Touring, too. Lucid equipped it with 34-inch Clearview Cockpit 6K OLED display, an additional 18-way front massage seats in six premium leather options, premium audio system, and a number of 100W USB-C and 120V powered outlets.

The new Gravity Touring family SUV is available in a 7-seat configuration, too, with two full-size seats in the third row that can fold flat like the second. The enormous frunk offers 8.1 cubic feet for storage or seating, while the trunk fits 120 cubic feet of cargo. The available configuration options span five types of wheels, as well as six exterior and five interior colors for every taste.
