The LincStation E1 is a new NAS from LincPlus. Even though it features a compact form factor, it brings support for up to 76TB of storage. It runs on LicOS, is powered by a Rockchip SoC, and has a super early bird price of $129.

LincPlus has launched a new NAS, the LincStation E1. Compared to some of the previous NASs from the company, this one has an affordable price tag. It's currently in the crowdfunding phase, and the super-early bird pricing is set at $129.

This deal will be available in limited quantities, and interested buyers can pledge it through Kickstarter. Once the super-early bird deal expires, it will cost $149 to get the NAS, and LincPlus notes that the retail price is expected to be $219.

Besides being affordable, the compact form factor is a highlight of the LincStation E1. It measures 219mm tall and is 88mm thick, and LincPlus says that this design makes the NAS around 30% smaller than most traditional Network Attached Storage (NAS) models with similar storage support.

Speaking of which, the LincStation E1 has slots for two HDDs and two NVMe SSDs (4TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus curr. $649.30 on Amazon), and the total storage support stands at 76TB. While this support makes the NAS solid for the price point, it's worth noting that the system is powered by the Rockchip RK3568.

For this processor choice, installing a different operating system can be a little tricky, but LincPlus notes that LincOS, the OS the NAS ships with, is feature-packed. So, most users may not feel the need to install something such as TrueNAS or Unraid.

Another notable aspect of the LincStation E1 is that it has 4GB of RAM, which is not a lot for advanced AI-driven NAS features. But then again, LincOS doesn't have advanced features like local transcription, so this amount of memory might just be more than fine for users LincPlus is targeting.

Nonetheless, for a compact NAS, the LincStation E1 has a decent set of connectivity ports, including:

  • 1x HDMI 2.1
  • 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
  • 1x 1GbE LAN
  • 1x HDMI 2.1

Other highlights of the NAS include an Active cooling setup, Bluetooth 5, WiFi 5, 4K video decoding, and tool-free access to the drives. Check out the pictures attached below to learn more about the LincStation E1.
