Limited-edition Windows 95 watch turns mouse pointer into watch hand
The latest watch from Benly is aimed squarely at retro PC enthusiasts, as its dial could just as easily be a screenshot from Windows 95. Alongside the characteristic turquoise background, the watch also features a File Explorer window, a taskbar and even a loading bar for those who miss the brief forced breaks during work.
The hour hand takes the form of a hand icon, while the mouse pointer indicates the minutes. The watch forgoes complications such as a date display. To improve legibility, the hours are marked with printed dots and numerals. For those who aren't fans of turquoise, Benly Watch also offers a version with a slightly modified desktop and a beige background.
While the watch certainly looks unusual, its technology is fairly conventional. The limited-edition watch features a round stainless steel case with a diameter of 39 millimeters and water resistance to 5 ATM. The included strap can be replaced with a standard 20-millimeter watch strap. An unspecified quartz movement from a Swiss manufacturer is said to ensure highly accurate timekeeping.
Pricing and availability
The Benly Watch Desktop 95 Limited Edition watch is now available to preorder from the manufacturer's online store with shipping expected to begin in November. The watch is offered with two different dials and three different straps. The versions with a leather strap or Milanese mesh bracelet cost $159 each, while the manufacturer charges $169 for the watch with a link bracelet. Shipping is free worldwide. The watch is limited to 500 units.
